I've gotten to the part where I get three Core fragments from Fire mountain, Ice mountain and the Aquaducts. When I go to the little girl in the forest to return the cores, I get a scene with a Yuke, 2 men(?) and a girl near a bed. The scene doesn't carry on from that and just stays there, with a sort of crackling sound. Has anyone else encountered this? Is it another piracy protection thing?

Nah, works fine for me, I'm almost through now. I'm using a pre-patched rom, patched with DSATM on my M3 Real, so no need to use the bypass codes nor instant code at all, and it works fine.
