Is it safe for my Acekard 2i or should I wait for an update from acekard? I'm going on a trip and want to know if I should update now or wait until I get back.

[edit] Nevermind, its not safe. Don't update people.

The update should come out this week,
when the update gets out, instantly there will be one or more topics about it,
just follow the gbatemp on the next days and you'll see

I don't understand what's taking them so long when Supercard put out an update a week ago.
I get there are plenty of fanboys here but they're getting slower and slower.
It's not like they have a menu to work on, that's being done by someone else for pete sake.

It takes a long time because there are only so many exploits they can use.
Supercard DStwo is using a full rom header emulation (or something like that), so all they need to do is change the boot file and not the header.
Also the Supercard DSOnei hasn't been updated since they pretty much use the same update as the Acekard 2i.

and I believe EZ Flash Vi isn't working either. You know what's weird? I actually used to use EZ Flash Vi until the updates became slower and slower and I went to Acekard 2i because they updated faster and was more reliable. Oh, how I'm slowly regretting that now. I should've gotten a DSTwo, but I wasn't sure of game compatibility....

I had once a DSTwo, but it was robed with my 3DS,
some games, and some of my brothers games.

I bought a Acekard 2i because it has a great kernel(Akaio),
have more themes, and is a lot cheaper.

Now I still have doubts like your's, should I have bought the DSTwo instead of Acekard 2i?

they have their update already. unlike other less scruples manufactures they are holding on to their exploits to see what nintendo dose next, its merrily a strategic move

it's not like Nintendo have any major updates lined up soon... i mean, we already have the demos announced, and 3DS games generally don't require firmware updates, and if they did it's usually included in the retail cart itself (see Super Mario 3D Land).

I don't see what they're waiting for, really. but hey, nothing we can do until they decide to release the update.

I love how every update DSi/3DS update comes out and the Acekard Team doesn't update, within days people give up hope.

You know people, there are only a handful of exploits that can be used and they are running thin. The Acekard team needs to wait and see if there will be any other updates, like a DSi update or another 3DS update so they can be on top of those as well. They can't just waste an exploit on every little update.
As well the card is just a budget card, you get what you pay for.
Not to mention firmware updates aren't even part of the promoted features, we are just lucky the card can be flashed to update with the DSi/3DS updates.

And coming from someone who has owned a SuperCard DSTwo since it's release, I can say the card not what it's cracked up to be and personally I use my Acekard 2i way more then my Supercard DSTwo.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
