I have a modded Nintendo 3DS. I installed a game using a CIA file and GodMode9. I see the following notification when I hover over the game:

"Distribution notification: The scheduled release date for the purchased item has passed. Launch this software while connected to the Internet to check distribution information."

Why does this appear? Is this an "unreleased" title? Will I get banned from the eShop if I play the game?

Also related: The file has been verified okay by GodMode9, but I'm unable to successfully dump the CXI file of the installed title using GodMode9.
What game, where do you see this?

The game is Etrian Odyssey V - although I see it on some other games as well. I'd post a picture, but the site won't let me - since I just created my account.

It appears on the top screen, in the scrolling text section. It's the same spot that shows when a game has an update available.

EDIT: I can upload images and attach them. See the attached image for an example of the distribution notification.

Hey guys, recently i started using my old 2DS again. I noticed that a game "Luigis Mansion" was not working. I think it might be that my firmware version is outdated. I already have CFW on my 2DS and current version 9.8.0-12E

Can i just do a system update or should i not bother upgrading at all?

Thanks

your luma must be outdated as well. update your luma first, then update the system.

But that shouldn't be the reason why the game doesn't work, if the system boots to the home menu. Did it give you an error something like Arm11, or ErrDisp? Or just black screen?

When i start that game it will load and show the 3ds logo and freeze, looks like it's loading but even after 5-10 minutes it's just staying there. Then i restart the console to get back to the main menu again. I haven't had a problem with the other 4 games i currently have on the console.

I mean. there are games out there that do require certain firmwares to run on. Altho it may be that a seed needs to be imported from fbi.

When playing unofficial GBA injects, I get this weird wraparound problem, with a similar thing hapining in letterbox mode. Anyone know a fix?View attachment 304092
Yeah, that issue appears when using a +64GB sd card formatted as Fat32 32KB cluster size, you need to format it again with 64kb cluster size to fix the issue. Don't forget to copy /paste the data before formatting.

Anyway to get the DSi System Settings to work on 3DS?

I saw a video (and a post on here during a Nintendo Zone DSi thread) stating that it is possible to get the DSi System Settings to work on the 3DS.
There's not really a clear tutorial but from what I could gather you need the two files from your DSi NAND dump's shared1 folders and import them into the TWL NAND portion of your 3DS.
I did this, and I also have the .cia of the System Settings (which there were three of for some reason.) but it still gives me an error when I open it. Has anyone done this successfully and did I skip some steps?

There's no real reason why I want to do this, I just wanted to see if it was possible for myself.

Hi, I just bought a sky3ds plus and I had heaps of problems trying to get it to work.

After hours of messing around with it and also damaging 1 sd card I found it would work fine if I hold it down when inserting the cartridge into the 3ds but if I let it come back up to the resting point like normal cartridges do then the game icon disappears.

Does this sound like a faulty sky3ds plus?

Thanks

It's probably the cart reader, make sure the cartridge has clean contacts if not do so with either a q-tip and some IPA and rub gently, if you don't have any, pencil erasers may work. Then use a flashlight (or any strong light source) to look inside the cartridge reader and see if there's any dust and do the same with a q-tip and IPA to clean it if it's dirty, also see if the pins are aligned properly in there too.

Not likely, there's a trick if doing the above fails, for R4's anyways, is opining the cart and adding some thin folded paper to it just so that when inserted it sticks tightly in there, though be careful it can get stuck, and i have no idea if it'll work in this case or not...

Is there a thread where you can share your 3ds friend codes?
It's mostly pointless to do so. You can't just input someone else's Friend code to add them to your Friends list – the other person needs to enter your Friend code as well.

If there's a specific game you need Friends for, then you would be better off looking for a forum dedicated to that specific game. I used to use the Pokemon Rumble World board on GameFAQs, for instance, and there are some lively ACNL communities.

I've been banned on gamefaqs for many years.

Okay thanks for the advice, I figured because my ds flashcard and original carts work without any issues, it's just the newly purchase sky3ds plus which doesn't make contact once it locks but will work if I hold it down, It is a tight fit already.

I'm not sure how they lock the cartridge in once it's pushed down but if I could make it lock in lower then it would stay down and work fine but all my other cartridges click down fine and work.

But I'll give it a clean tonight and see if I can get it working thanks

Could be if it's a Sky3DS clone the cart measurements aren't quite correct & was shoddily made, inspect it visually and compare it with your other game carts you have, and see if something looks off. The contacts on the cart should be visible and clean, in correct alignment and not too pressed against the outer plastic etc.

Could be just this cart, if it's the only one you're having trouble with..

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
