Has anyone managed to play battlespot matches whilst streaming with Kitkat? When I try to play online I will always receive a communication error.

I followed the link below for my kitkat setup (only difference is that I'm not using input redirection).

https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-use-ntr-streamer-input-redirect-the-proper-way.441253/

After discovering I couldn't stream online matches, the topic creator kindly pointed in the direction of another of his guides to disable the NFC chip which I have done.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-use-input-redirection-poke-sumo.452582/

Finally, I had upgraded to 11.4 which I now know breaks the streaming function, so I used the next guide to downgrade n3ds back to 11.3 https://gbatemp.net/threads/3down-ctrnand-downgrade-to-11-3.467877/

This worked fine, but still can't play on battlespot whilst streaming. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The new firmware just doesn't allow emuNAND to be booted from rxTools. It's still there unharmed you just can't get to it with your current setup. You don't have to install a9lh, you can just replace rxTools with Luma if you wish, and boot into it the same way you have been booting into rxTools. Takes less time to set up, but you have to be a bit smarter as there's not a step by step guide and you will have a less good entrypoint at the end. But it is up to you. See https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Installation-and-upgrade

Thank you for your advice! I opted to follow the guide and moved my emunand over to sysnand today successfully.

Is there any point in downgrading firmware 11.3 to 9.2? (I'm on 11.3 and have A9LH/Luma installed). I've read in various places that this is the best firmware to be on, but just wanted details as to exactly why.

No, 11.3 is the new 9.2. It's a bit quicker to get into arm9 apps from 9.2 (don't need Safehax etc) but you need to get into an arm9 app to even downgrade to 9.2, so you may as well just use that opportunity to install a9lh. 9.2 is no longer an especially useful firmware to be on.

Hi everyone,

I have accidentally upgraded my New 3DS to firmware 11.4 which broke a bit of my homebrew functionality (i.e. soundhax is gone). But since I already have a CFW installed and kept a backup of the original firmware, I simply restored the sysNAND and was back on 11.2. Before doing that I had a lot of games and homebrew apps installed and, sadly, they're all gone now. Not entirely gone, actually. They are still there on the sd card, but won't show up in the home menu anymore. At the time I made the backup, no game was installed and as far as I understand they are not properly registered now after the downgrade and thus cannot be recognized by the restored firmware.
Question is simple: Is there an easy way to restore the already installed games or do I have to obtain all the CIAs again and install them once more?

You don't need soundhax with CFW, just install the homebrew launcher cia. If you made a backup before you restored the old backup, then restore it. Otherwise, by restoring the old backup you got rid of all the tickets from games you installed in between the old backup and now. Tickets are what allows games to show up on your home menu. You can use TikShop to install the tickets again. This will only get back tickets available in the titlekeys database (anything you installed from CIAngel or freeShop is there) for any games not available in the titlekeys database, you'll have to reinstall the cia which contains the ticket. Backup your save data with JKSM before you do this in case it wipes your save file.

Next time, do some research on your problem before guessing at a solution. If you can't find any info, then ask in the noob paradise thread. Doing random things will often cause issues that could have been avoided.

I have a 3ds thay was originally on 4.x.x, and I tried to follow 3ds.guide and I can't seem to be able to get to the part where a OTP.bin is made on the card. I believe I have the wrong arm11.bin file for the web loading. I make it to the site it goea to glitch and I press select and the any button and the 3ds never turns off. It just freezes. I habe to turn it off manually and there is no new file present in files9. Can anyone link me to the right one. It just goes on the root right.

If you have a9lh, you should be using FBI as a CIA on your Home Menu, not the Homebrew Launcher. If you update, you won't lose access to FBI as long as you have a9lh and it's installed as a CIA.
I went ahead and updated fbi works fine but it broke my homebrew launcher (which was the cia version), so that sucks.

Did you follow the guide right from the beginning, so you're on 2.1 right now? Take photos of the files on the root of your SD card and of the files in the a9lh folder to show us, so we can see what you have wrong.

Original 3DS right now cannot load up homebrew. There is no payload for 11.4 O3DS yet. Only for the N3DS. It may take months to get it. If you're A9LH'd and have a backup, I recommend restoring the backup, or possibly doing 3Down.
@Mayman121, you can easily access the HBL with an O3DS on 11.4 if you download the appropriate 11.3 or 11.2 otherapp payload and renaming it OLD-11-4-0-37-[Region].bin (Where [Region] is USA, EUR or JPN) and putting it in your hblauncherloader folder.

Downgrading back to 11.3 is a terrible idea, unless you have an 11.3 NAND backup, but even then there's really no point not to be on 11.4.

Doing that will not get all homebrew to work. Just seems like most. Reasons to not be on 11.4: NTR video streaming. Other reasons: none.

Why would HBL be needed anyway

Perhaps OP wants a way to run homebrew (3ds/3dsx)?

Yeah, but most Homebrew apps have cia alternatives

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
