It's probably because the nands are still linked or something. Either get rid of emunand completely by following the guide to the end (unless you need it for something, though AFAIK it's pretty much useless with a9lh..) or try this:

"I think I had the same error I know it was the same issue though.
how I fixed it was formatted sysnand and then emunand and then sysnand again.
I think it was because I didn't unlink my NNID from the sysnand but for whatever reason it fixed it."

Also, do all of the formatting with TinyFormat not the system format.

Well i'll try but i already followed the tutorial till the end :/
Formatting both nand with TinyFormat will erase everything so i'll have to installe lumaupdater cia again right?

So you formatted the SD card with the no emunand option (part 5)? If so, then that's not the problem.. Have you by any chance done a region change to the system after installing a9lh?

Is your Luma updated to the latest version? Try stable 5.5 first and if that doesn't work try latest hourly build.

Glad it worked :) Just update through your 3DS, don't download any of those update CIAs.

This is scary as fuck...

On Step 2 of Phailects, got into plaisys and started downgrade and somewhere during downgrade I got an error, so I reboot. Black screen D:

Browserhax wouldn't start and the system didn't boot on it's own. Luckily the tips helped. Removing the SD card allowed the system to start and once i saw it was on 9.2 I realized it was a partial downgrade and that the menuhax probably wasn't enabled anymore. So I plugged in the SD after booting and redid the browserhax and then it worked fine on boot. Restarted the downgrade and it finished the last file (one... ONE FILE! all that sweat and tears...)

Now it booted normally. On to Step 22..

Wow, really can't trust those Explorer 'Size' columns. deleted the first sysNAND backup because it seemed wrong but second was same size. In properties the size actually matched with what it was supposed to be.

That was scary as fuck too

Hello guys, here's my situation. I recently bought three 2DS consoles for my kids' upcoming birthdays.

I followed the rxTools tutorial by samiam144 located here....

https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-installing-rxtools-custom-firmware-3ds-and-2ds.390867/

I did sections 1-9, and updated them to 9.2. I did not setup menuhax yet. Everything went well. But now that I've been doing more research, I'm seeing that the Luma3DS/A9LH guide by Plailect is the way to go.

It looks a little confusing to me to switch to Luma, add menuhax, then do steps 3-4-5 of Plailect's guide.

My question is how can I just start over from the beginning and do Plailect's guide? Is there a way I can just take my 3DSs back to a factory new unit (with the 9.2 firmware I updated them to)?

Thanks in advance.

You can use TinyFormat, and it will seem as if it's the first time the 3DS is powered on. It'll make you go through the setup, too.

This WILL delete everything.

Just want to doublecheck if I have this right at the moment.

Page 3 Phailect step 27
Update your RedNAND to the latest version using system settings (Once you exit System Settings / SD Card Management you will be returned to SysNAND, make sure to enter back into RedNAND before updating!)

So if I'm not mistaken. Every time I boot the system I'm in Sysnand, unless I boot the Homebrew Launcher and then start Luma3DS, which puts me into RedNAND, but only until I leave the settings menu which puts me back into Sysnand? (that messed me up initially)

So I need to start Luma3DS, go to settings and update to the latest version (so system update till 11?)?

ps: Is there a way to start the Homebrew Launcher without rebooting/re-using the original url at this point?

Yup, you can reinstall menuhax. And both questions you asked are answered in the quoted post (expand)

EDIT: missunderstood the last question... nope, reboot into menuhax is the only way at this point AFAIK

Odd noob question about downgrading from 11.

I have read that 11 has stopped downgrading by implementing checks to see what firmware is being installed. If it is lower then 11 it won't work.
So instead of downgrading, would it be possible to change the 9.2 firmware so instead of reading as 9.2, it reads as 12. Then have the 3ds connect through a spoof server and have the 3ds upgrade to 12(9.2)?

As I am unfamiliar with anything related to firmware, I don't know how retarded this sounds, but here is the question.

No, just no. Don't be a cheapass; find someone with soldering skills and pay him like $50 to hard mod it for you.

This is actually a development question. I have already installed A9LH on my 3ds and am waiting to install shadownand.

I am interested in the feasibility of this scenario however retarded it sounds. Why does this not work?

It checks revision of the title you're installing. If you change the revision, it breaks the signature and won't install.
