If you don't want to take the chance with A9LH, then I guess do what I told you in the first place. Which was the following:


If at a later time, you decide you want to switch to A9LH, then it'd be pretty easy to do that. The guide even tells you how to go from a current MenuHax+RedNAND//EmuNAND setup to following the guide.

You said you were on 7.2.0 10E, correct? Then the chart I linked you, makes you do the following.

Of course this is assuming you have a working browser on said 3DS.

From here, you will end up on 9.2.0-20. You do not need a game exploit. The game exploit is for the people who are as the guide says.
"If you are between versions 10.6.0 and 11.0.0, or have a browser version (the last number in the version, such as 11.0.0-33) of less than -20, you must use the following instructions for various alternate entrypoints in place of Part 1"

This will not apply to you, as you should be on 9.2.0-20, if you followed the 9.2.0 Update section that corresponds with your current FW version.

If your version is between 9.0.0 and 9.2.0, start on "Part 1 - Homebrew" then skip most of "Part 2 - 9.2.0 Downgrade". If you already have a CFW setup on any version between 9.0.0 and 9.2.0, change menuhax to type 1, set your menuhax trigger to D-Pad down, then start the guide at Part 4. Note that anywhere "RedNAND" is mentioned, you can pretend it says "EmuNAND" instead as they are very similar and the instructions will be the same other than that.

I have completed Plailect's guide and therefore using A9LH. I have .3ds files that I would like to convert to .cia. I've read other threads about decrypt9 etc. but my problem is that I when I try and boot it, it doesn't load (black, red then black screen then back to homebrew). From what people said, I think I can't boot it on emunand and I need to run it via sysnand but because of the A9LH it autoboots to emunand. Can anyone point me to a thread or something to solve this issue? Many thanks.

You do the update to 9.2.0. Then you go straight to Part 1 of the guide, you skip Part 2, so you go right to Part 3 after Part 1, then you follow it to the end. Assuming you want to setup A9LH.

Assuming you are using Luma3DS. Then you'll need to use Luma3DS' payload chainloading feature.

Basically download the latest release of Decrypt9WIP.

1. Copy Decrypt9WIP.bin from the Decrypt9WIP zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card.
2. In the /luma/payloads folder, rename Decrypt9WIP.bin to down_Dec9.bin

Now hold the D-PAD Down, and you'll boot into Decrypt9 at boot time. You can change the button to whatever you want, as long as it's a valid one as described in the Luma3DS wiki that I linked above.

Basically why we can't load Decrypt9 from the Homebrew Launcher is because we need arm9 privileges.

i have old 3ds sysnand ver 9.0 emunand 11 RxTools and i understand tht i need to switch from rxtools to luma or other updated cfw and i want keep my all games..
i saw here tutorial to do that (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-updating-from-rxtools-to-luma3ds.427735/) but there isnt there the option for my case,i launch emunand from rxTools/sys/code.bin through the internet and i dont know what files i need to copy and how i lunch the emunand now..

I've been out of the loop for a while - last I left my system was up to date and I'm currently running menuhax which brings up the homebrew menu and then I can launch Rei or Cakes from there, both work fine with my emunand which I originally created with gateway. This is on a n3ds running 9.2E btw.

1) What's the main reason to switch to A9LH instead of menuhax?

2) will newer firmwares like Luma work with my existing setup if I just install them and run them from the homebrew loader?

3) If I go to ARM9 instead of menuhax (which seems like a really involved process for little gain) what will it actually 'launch' can you still use the homebrew loader or would you launch into a firmware-chooser type program like CTR?

4) What's CTR Bootmanager needed for? (does it replace the homebrew launcher? why?)
edit #2 - I think I've confused myself a bit (like I said, it's been a while) so CTR is part of homemenuhax and that boots the homebrew launcher, is that correct?

5) Is there any reason to have CTR boot straight into CFW instead of a homebrew launcher?

I did the A9LH guide by plait. but can't find a tutorial on how to use cheat codes.
All i've find is something called NTR and another side called FORT42, but it doesn't explicitly say how it works.

I'm new at this last year i got for my bday a nintendo 3ds xl with fw 9.7 0-25E...i have never played it and not upgraded it...now i dont want anything too much...i just want to ask which is the best and easiest way to play backup with dlc as well...if gateway or whatever else...please help me out and if you can link me a guide as well...i will appreciate it...cause ow i have a lot of confusion i know that gateway its harder but if i have a guide with the best setup i can have at this moment to play the game i want to and add dlc as well ill be happy...

Yeah. It's fine. Assuming the .CIA of said game matches the region of your console. Otherwise. You'll have to download the update in it's .CIA form and install it via FBI.

Well, I guess looking at the title id in FBI, and matching that up with what 3dsdb.com says. Otherwise, wherever you downloaded it from, should have mentioned that.

Another way, is that the update via eshop won't work//download. Also, the reason any region .CIA files will install is because you are using Luma3DS' which has the required signature patches and is region free.
