Hey there, thanks for the response! Could you give just a quick explanation on what this all will result in? I'm assuming that third link will recover my current eShop data. I currently have a lot of eShop content on my 3ds that I want to do this on.

A very noobish general question on this: What is the end-result firmware for the main NAND? Would I have to boot to the DS profile every time I start my 3ds to be on the latest firmware if I do this?

Thank you so much by the way -- got a paypal I could toss a few bones to for the help? I appreciate it.

According to the OP in the 3rd guide what the process does is basically to take the content from the Nand (or Emunand in this case) that has all the eshop downloads and make that replace the contents of the Nand that's working on sysnand. So I'm not completely sure if you can use the old data while also keeping your saves for example. However if you were to re-download all your titles again from the eshop (In Emunand) I'm sure they should work when transferred back. Either way as long as you keep a copy of your original NAND + the rest of your original SD data + don't brick the sysnand in the process, you should always be able to restore everything back and try again.
Regarding your other question, I'll be honest and tell you I haven't accomplished finishing the guide yet (messed up at the end, Emunand bricked so I have to figure out what I did wrong) but according to OP

"(9.x downgraded to 4.x will work. It's just to get XORPads. You /can/ modify your 9.x backup if you wish to restore back to 9.x with your eShop content)"

So I guess the end-result firmware for sysnand should match the NAND backup you're injecting to but I'd rather PM him directly about that. But if everything goes right you shouldn't need any kind of exploit to use your games afterwards.

The tutorial is for general blocked cards that worked one day worked on 3DS, I think the GW blue card is a clone of R4-something

The link you sent me looks like an emulation/homebrew? I really don't kow what is this lol

and I've tried an megadrive emu and nds games on the blue card, so if is that your question, It's just a common NDS flashcard (since I'm on 9.2 I can't use GW installer)

So silly question, if I were to get banned, Nintendo doesn't do anything to the 3DS do they? I'd still be able to use like, local wifi between 2 3DS systems?

And this is what i need to know lol because will be not convenient if need to connect microsd to pc everytime to change nds file on blue card (between nds game and gw installer.nds)

I think you can have everything on the card at same time :v or you can have more cards XD
But you don't nee donly one time the gw installer?

Ah i can use blue card normally without that the card cancel exploit? So this happen only if you use DS card game?

I want to play online, I already put private headers in.
I'm fairly new, and don't understand emunand and such. Right now when I got into gateway mode, I am on GW3D 4.2.0-9U.
Do I need to update or anything? :3

I made a thread some time ago about how i lost my Nand backup, but now i fount a nand backup in a pendrive (i saved it there and then forgot about it), is there a way to know if that nand is from sysnand or emunand? (I remember using the maxconsole guide to set up my Gateway and then update emuNand to 9,4 but i dont know if i made a emuNand backup or only a sysnand backup

I know I should be able to get a new Nand backup from my 3DS, but im kind of scared to touch my SD card since I read a thread about random bricks when messing with options.

Also, if i try to make another Nand backup, Do I need to delete the one on my SD first or will the gateway/3ds overwrite it?

Oh I didn't see you mention Emunand before, that needs a bit more work.
I haven't tried it myself but I'm almost certain the steps should be:
1. Extract your Emunand from your old SD card with Emunand Tool
2. Format the new SD card to create an emunand partition (with the gateway/MT menu)
3. Inject the Emunand backup with emunand tool into the new SD card
4. Now copy all files over.

You can use classic mode to play your retail carts, however because 4.5 uses a different encryption key (I'm assuming you're over 7.x) your saves will be lost when you try to play them again but after making a new save it should always work. You can also create your NNID while on Emunand after downgrading although I'm not sure if it would conflict with your NNID-less Nand so I would try to unlink SysNand and Emunand while at it.

1. how do i extract it out of my old card?

I'm totally new, and lost. I'm interested in getting a New 3DS XL, and I don't know which cartridge I should be looking to get at this point. I did some research and found that there are two big names, gateway and sky3ds. Apparently Gateway doesn't work on the new 3ds/XL (?) however it supports homebrew stuff and DS/GBA games (a big factor for me). I heard that it is also much easier to switch games, as compared to sky3ds. Am I stuck with buying a Sky3DS at this point, if I want the New 3DS XL? Does anybody know if the gateway developers are making efforts to make gateway compatible on the new 3ds/xl? (sorry if the answers to some questions were already written somewhere, I did not take a lot of time to browse around).

I have a New 3DS on the latest firmware.

Is there a flashcart for playing original DS roms that will be compatible? I don't need 3DS rom compatibility, I'm mainly getting it so I can carry all my old games around without switching cartridges, I buy all my 3DS games from the eShop.

Cheers.
