Hi, I recently bought a JN3DS, it came with flipnote.

I took out the backplate and upgraded the SD card, however I forgot to transfer all the data I had in the old SD card with flipnote to the upgraded one.
So, I tried replacing the files through the wireless option, but it did not work.

Do I have to transfer it using my PC for it to work?

I'm not sure if wireless transfer works with all files but I'm sure it's better to use mSD card connected to PC.

Is it possible to use emunand to play retail carts. Since I want to play my Pokemon Y after downgrading, but i know it uses the new encrypted save and I am going to be downgrading soon.. Thanks for any info.Also If I have never created a NNID, but I have bin to Nintendo Eshop just to look around can I create one after downgrading. Also I have emunand 9.5

Just copy/paste them over, as long as the system remains the same it should read everything it's supposed to read.

Oh I didn't see you mention Emunand before, that needs a bit more work.
I haven't tried it myself but I'm almost certain the steps should be:
1. Extract your Emunand from your old SD card with Emunand Tool
2. Format the new SD card to create an emunand partition (with the gateway/MT menu)
3. Inject the Emunand backup with emunand tool into the new SD card
4. Now copy all files over.

You can use classic mode to play your retail carts, however because 4.5 uses a different encryption key (I'm assuming you're over 7.x) your saves will be lost when you try to play them again but after making a new save it should always work. You can also create your NNID while on Emunand after downgrading although I'm not sure if it would conflict with your NNID-less Nand so I would try to unlink SysNand and Emunand while at it.

When did the new save encryption kick in? I'm on 7.1 and I'd like to downgrade to install CFW but I want to keep my saves too. Is there any way to convert them to the new save format otherwise, or is it basically impossible to do so?

There's a chance you don't need the emunand tool and it works with the newly created emunand but through this method I'm sure you'll end up with the exact same emunand you backup.

Didn't try the themes since I don't really use them, you'll have to figure that out, but if purchased themes are also stored in your console's ticket then that guide should allow it to pass over to sysnand as well, of course sysnand should be compatible with themes as well.
Also I personally suggest getting these tools as it can directly give you your xorpads in the correct format to avoid a couple steps.

Hi guys! I have a question. I have a normal, "clean" 3dsxl sitting at 9.2. I'm not in the interest in pirating, but I would like to keep any exploits open for future regionfree/homebrewing. That being said, I'd like to use the eShop but it requires me to update to 9.5. Is there anything I can do right now at 9.2 to keep me open to future exploits, while still staying "legit" and being able to access the eShop?

Again, piracy does not interest me, so a solution that does not allow use of CIAs/.3ds files, etc is OK by me. I know of the browser exploit, but I do not have a 3ds-compatible DS flashcart. I've heard of some people saying you can do the browser exploit for CFW without a flashcart. Is this true? If so, could I use that, install CFW and emunand somehow to 9.5? I am a big noob and barely know what those last words mean. Any help or point in the right direction would be very helpful. Thanks!

OK, I'm over the Gate-Waiting for my N3DSXL and ordered up a Sky for it.

Now, what to do with this Gateway I just got last week.
I’m thinking I’ll buy a new In-The-Box O3DSXL and maybe gift it to one of my friends/family.

The question is: Are there any New-In-The-Box O3DSXL’s that aren’t gonna work with the Gateway?

I’m looking at a “Nintendo 3DS XL Gold Ed. w/ NEW Super Mario Bros. 2 Pre-Installed Bundle SEALED” I see up on EBay.

Hey, I have my MM3d (legit cart) save file created on a 3ds with 4.5 sysnand and 9.5 emuNand. Is there any way I can change the encryption it uses so I can use it on my N3ds? I have access to CFW Savedatafiler, if that helps.

This occured a few weeks ago and I have since tried reinstalling CFW and the problem is still there.

So, I installed CFW on my regular 3DS. Fast forward to a few days later. I absentmindedly went to the system settings in CFW and changed the birthday date for M&L: Dream Team. When I exited the settings to go back to the home menu, it just either froze/screen went black. So, I shut it down manually by holding the power button. When I turned the handheld back up, I went to go into CFW by using the ds exploit. Now, when I click it, it just goes to a gray screen and stays like that. It does not transition to the black/teal screen nor does it get the white flash.

What is the best method to solve this problem? If I'm screwed and cant reverse this, just say so. I have a spare 3ds xl with 9.5 so I okay for now, but I would like to use CFW too.

Do you have a NAND backup of your CFW? Otherwise, you need to delete all partitions on your SD card, and create one fat32, and set it up once again.

Only flash cart that would work is Sky3ds.
No, it is impossible to downgrade.

Hey there, thanks for the response! Could you give just a quick explanation on what this all will result in? I'm assuming that third link will recover my current eShop data. I currently have a lot of eShop content on my 3ds that I want to do this on.

A very noobish general question on this: What is the end-result firmware for the main NAND? Would I have to boot to the DS profile every time I start my 3ds to be on the latest firmware if I do this?
