The "Singularity," in common parlance, is the moment when our computers reach the same level of intelligence as we humans possess.

So...

1. That's bullshit.
2. The same intelligence as what kind of humans? The average human? The average human pre-orders digital games, buys game boxes with a printed game key inside, and overspends on gacha games. That is no achievement whatsoever.
3. Why should we even care if that were true? What would even change? Oh, nothing? Okay, moving on.

I believe Mister Altman is saying these things cause his company is deeeeeeeep in the red and making nonsensical announcements like these might move unwise CEO's to give him more money.

I couldnt possibly decide which is the douchiest... what we would need, to find out which ones douchier would be like... a super-powerful AI.

For sure. But at least that one is a computer engineer with years of experience in the filed. Altman is a glorified salesman that thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Sam Altman is a liar and a corrupt businessman. He is nothing but a leech upon society using AI for illgotten gains and making claims that aren't based in reality to attempt to keep his gravy train going.

Hopefully people wake up and unite against these tech bros who are pushing AI. Thats something that I think regardless of what your political affiliation is most people should be able to agree upon.

These tech companies pushing AI and data centers need to be regulated and put in check.

i dont DISLIKE AI as a whole. i use local AI myself so i never have to write letters ever again, which is nice, but CLOUD AI is a cancer and deeply harmful to us all.

AI learns from those corrupt mfs as well. I wouldn't count on a benevolent AGI emerging. Even if, we'd get a really ugly monster first before that happens.

Heck, at this point we don't have any intelligence in our artificial intelligence at all. You see, models do not understand what they are parroting. They cannot contemplate and neither are they given the resources to do just that in a way that humans do constantly.

To answer your question: The best thing that could happen is that when AI gains significant power it hallucinates itself into a harmless broken state before it hallucinates itself into doing serious harm. I wouldn't take the gamble, honestly, even though I understand and share your point regarding the current state of the world
