Hacking 3DS Noob here.... 3DS cia installer

Hey guys Im really really new to the 3DS scene and im kinda surprised I couldnt find a .cia installer tutorial on here. I googled it and found some stuff but I dont wanna brick my 3DS so I wanna be sure I can confirm with some people this method is good. I have an old 3DS 8.4 with emunand 9.8. I only wanna install stuff on my emunand. Also if I have a theme file how do I install that? From what I looked at I need to use devmenu is that right?

You can also use FBI if you do not want to use DevMenu.

As long as you are in emuNAND when you boot into DevMenu/FBI, it will install to emuNAND. Hope this helped!

well I dont really have a preference I just dont want to brick anything. So is Devmenu better or does it really not matter? So load up devmenu like I would a 3ds backup? Is there a good link for devmenu? Or can we not share it? I dont wanna download a bootleg and get screwed. Are theme files also .cia? Just install them the same way?
