My friend ended up buying a copy of Pokemon Moon for his O3DS, and he has CakesFW Emunand, and when he tried playing it, it just reset the 3DS and brought him back to the home screen (in emunand). I've tried helping him but because he's not with me at the moment I'm having a hard time diagnosing. But here are the known things:
- Tried opening the game multiple times with the same result
- He updated the emunand using the Moon cartridge (but still ended up with the latest firmware)
- Can access eShop, and all the other services
Can you guys give suggestions/ know why the 3DS is bugging out? Any and all help is appreciated thanks :)

He should try using Luma, Cakes isn't really in development anymore and probably has issues handling extended memory games like SuMo on the O3DS

I have CakesFW on my N3DS, and it works perfectly fine. I'll have a look at Luma though thanks :)
Well the difference is that you have a New 3DS ;) The extended memory that Sun and Moon need just affects the O3DS, which has to boot into a different mode when you launch that kind of games (which is also the reason why SuMo don't work with NTR on the O3DS)

Oh ok. Is it possible to move the data from the CakesFW to Luma? The only Emunands I've ever tried installing are Cakes and Gateway.

The emuNAND will just be "carried over", all CFWs are compatible with each other in that regard. Basically, just remove everything cakes related from the SD card and put the luma files on there

I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!

@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
