It doesn't really matter, Resident Evil is a shit multiplayer game. I mean the co-op in Resident Evil 5 wasn't terrible but it basically was shoved down your throat. You needed another person to actually enjoy the game since the AI is as dumb as a lump of bricks. But it doesn't matter how much weapons or characters are in the Mercenaries, it's just a bad idea.
And for Resident Evil 5's sake, it was only really bad because of the co-op. As I said before, it was shoved down your throat and you either had to play with the mediocre AI or a friend, so basically with a friend. Plus the game is like 5 hours long, while I spent at least over 20+ hours beating RE4.
I liked Resident Evil 5.
Then again, I only played it when my friend would come over for LAN.
I can agree that Resident Evil 5 could never hold a candle to Resident Evil 4 (and especially the earlier Resident Evils), but still, it was fun.
But, about Mercenaries, it really does depend on how much they plan to add to the game. Resident Evil 5's Mercenaries was great fun with a friend, but it lacked depth. If they add lots of depth to it, it could be an excellent multiplayer game.
Elements such as experience, weapon unlocking, character customization, perks, etc would be great.
However, I can understand that the console Mercenaries is underwhelming as it is.
