Hacking 3DS and online play with R4ids.cn

Hi guys. I recently bought a R4i from R4ids.cn and started playing Pokemon Black. Is it somehow possible to access the online features of the game? Because some pokemons can be gotten only from trading players. I've tried toggling the WiFi button on the right, but nothing happens, the light doesn't flash.

Do DS games even have permission to use the 3DS WiFi?

They do, but only in DS-mode, which means you're limited to WEP security.
