So all 3ds can be hacked even when baught new?
Yes!
Either via Fieldrunners (I don't like this method because it's risky) and hardmod+autofirm.

EDIT: "bought new" consoles, usually, come with a lower firmware version, like 10.7 or bellow, and in this version you can downgrade directly to 9.2 via software only.

So its not easy then. My o3ds is on 9.0. But im thinking about upgrading to a new 3ds soon
If your o3ds is on 9.0 it's very easy to hack, go for it!

Also if you hack your o3ds and get a n3ds you can downgrade your n3ds with fieldrunners, which isn't very difficult thanks to the guide :P

Can the fieldrunners be downloaded from the freshop? or from that iso site?
It has to be a legitimate copy, otherwise how would you get it on the target console? Clearly stated in the guide last time I checked (~ a month ago?).

How is it risky? It's the same exact method as hardmod. You *can* make a NAND backup using DSiWare and use Autofirm if you so want, then restore using DSiWare, but...

Yeah, but what happens if your console "dies" during the NAND writing process?! ;)
Only a hardmod could help you then...

I've only made hardmod so far and I don't know the dgTools app, but I've seen a couple of friend (technicians) that had weird stuff happening when writing the NAND (console shutdown during the writing, BSOD after a successful writing, and so on) and I had to help them wth hardmods.

Since I have never used dgTools I don't know if those issues were mistakes done by them or dgTools fault, but these friends are quite experienced in console modding, so I don't know...

This is why I said "risky", but this is my opinion, buddy!

Imo, it's the same risk, and it doesn't matter too much if you make a backup prior. You can then have it hardmodded and fix it.

That's what I said... at least the last part!
I consider Fieldrunners riskier because you'd have to do a hardmod later to fix it whereas in hardmod you have total control of your NAND read/write.

meh, it doesn't matter too much, and you only get it hardmodded (which *can* be significantly more expensive) if really necessary.

Thank you for this update of your software.

USAGE:
  1. Extract the .zip file on any folder on your Windows PC
  2. Extract via hardmod the nand of your 3DS
  3. Put the nand backup file renamed to NAND.BIN inside the same folder of the other files you extracted.
  4. Launch Autofirm_ENG.bat and follow instructions.
From your tutorial, I have noticed issues about some NATIVE_FIRM cia asked : https://www.reboot.ms/forum/threads/downgrade-3ds-da-11-1-11-2-a-9-2.3252/

-> FROM THIS LINK, only o3ds/n3ds 10.4 and 11.0 cia available
  2. Estrai il pacchetto autofirm_Reboot_11.2.zip in una cartella a piacere, poi copia al suo interno i file
    - o3DS 11.2.cia <- questi sono i NATIVE_FIRM scaricati al punto 2 (this one missing)
    - o3DS 11.1.cia (this one missing)
    - o3DS 11.0.cia
    - o3DS 10.4.cia
    - n3DS 11.2.cia (this one missing)
    - n3DS 11.1.cia (this one missing)
    - n3DS 11.0.cia
    - n3DS 10.4.cia
    - nand.bin <- estratta dal 3DS tramite hardmod
Do you have link to get the missing files listed above ?

Thank you for your help.

When you open autofirm_ENG.bat file (from autofirm_Reboot_11.2b), read the text displayed and you will find a new URL link to access to these files.

So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
