Well, same problem with me, on a Defend Your Castle PAL WAD. There's simply no solution. It's just the WAD can't be played on a NTSC-U/J system, even region free'd and Starfall'd.

But if you're problem is when you load the channel and it reboots to the Wii menu, then that's another problem which is; you're missing the IOS it is used for.

And the ret= -1022 occurs if you've a bad/corrupt WAD.

Defend Your Castle runs for me...wait...I have the NTSC version.

I can't believe that the only WADs I can find are bad and corrupt, but you could be right. Man it's driving me nuts! Super Mario Brothers 3 will not work. Every WAD I get fails with the 1022 error.

After another 2 hours, I'm still no where. I cannot understand why some WAD files install perfectly, yet others do not. I can't believe I have bad SD cards (I've tried 3 now) and that the 6 or 7 WAD files of the same game are ALL bad.

ret = -1022 might be an error in wad installing on its own.
i've had this issue with sin and punishment as well as any games injected into s&p

it must be something else we are overlooking as i've been trying to install this game since 3.0 or whatever.
i have send the exact same wad to someone with the exact same setup and he was able to properly install

this has nothing to do with system menu version, ios, starfall, which method of install wads, at least from what I can tell.

the only hope is to have waninkoko give us more technical detail on what -1022 means.

Could it be IOS55 inhibiting this? It's what makes it impossible to install wads on 3.3 and 3.4...

If you do think it's it, you have to install IOS30 and 36 in it's place...

I think...

even though you dont need to, try ios downgrader then try the wad again and if thats no good then try cios downgrader then try again,
a lot of people seem to get this issue for some unknown reason, has anyone with a ntsc wii actually got SMB3 to work? if so plz post

EDIT

just a thought but have you got any gamecube mem cards or usb devices attached if so take them out as this can cause issues with wad manager

I finally found the root of my problem.

The issue was the SD cards. The first one I had was a 2GB Sandisk I had just bought. Apparently, it is corrupted. I also tried some no name card, and a 1GB Kingston. All gave the same results.

I was digging through my PC crap and found an older 2GB Sandisk card. Formatted it, and boom...all the WADs that failed, worked just fine.

Thank you to everyone for your help with this. I greatly appreciate it!!!!!!!

you need to install wad manager 1.6, and also install ciosx rev 19 once youve done this you need to make sure that your using cios 38 for wad manager once it first boots and install the game, it worked for me with tv show king 2, bloody annoying to install but got it working using this method

I had that problem. Here's what you should do.

1. Update to 4.1 (it can help)
2. Get the latest cIOS
3. Update all your other IOS
4. Get Wad Manager 1.5 or newer
5. Boot off a SD Card
6. Make sure the wads are NOT corrupted
7. Check your...
