I'm getting my Wii chipped this weekend coming, I have the SSBB (J) on two discs (one with brick blocker, one without), I'm very very very tempted to use the 15% trick to avoid double channels. I'm weary about how risky it is, Has anyone on this website ever had a bricked wii because of it? Or even Semi Bricked? Please tell me. Thanks.

I'm from the UK so I'm going to have to do the 15% trick anyway. (Check the flag next time before you post guessing that their American.)

So are you going to give me useful information on the 15%?

You don't NEED to do the 15% trick at all...

If you don't feel confident with it then just let it update all the way - you get duplicate channels, but they don't actually affect anything. (Just shove them to the far right)

Neither method has any problem as long as you are SURE you have the latest firmware (3.1E) and as an added bonus, the 100% way only requires one (clean) disc.

Thanks Joey, I appreciate it.
I'm SURE i have 3.1E I've tried to update it a lot recently just to make sure.
Thanks man, I'll do the 15% if I feel confident at the time.

My Wii says that it has the most current system software when I try to update it... there isn't a game out there that has an update after SMG's firmware update, right?

Why would the fact that you are from the UK mean you need to do the 15% trick? I've played plenty of NTSC games on my PAL wii just fine.

It's not needed unless you don't want double channels.

As for the risk: updating with the firmware of another region is always anyway, whether you do it for 100% or 15%.

The fact that if I did a NTSC-U or NTSC-J update it could brick my wii...? :/
The guy that is going to mod my wii says its risky and he personally would not do it.
Is it really that dangerous? Has anyone had a bricked wii because of it on the latest firmware?

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
