Hacking Is there a way to run Gamecube games from SD card using Nintendont and have gamepad support?

Wouldn't I need it to install the HBC on the vWii side though?
Again, in theory no. If Nintendont does not require any modifications (such as installing cIOS or patching certain IOS files) then you only need a way to open Nintendont. If the file he provided is not a forwarder but instead an injection of the Nintendont .dol file, then it would indeed open without issue. You could try it out and see the results.

So the VC inject means that nintendont is saved on the NAND and the device doesnt need to go through vWii at all?

And the forwarder just directs you to nintendont saved on the SD card by sending you directly into the nintendont app on the vWii side?

The inject means that the .dol is converted into a digital Wii game, which can then be installed on the Wii U. Allowing you to open them from the Wii U Menu and use the GamePad as a controller when applicable. The Wii U still opens the vWii in order to boot up the desired game.

A forwader would essentially just open a certain installed channel on the vWii, acting as a shortcut that would allow you to use the GamePad as a controller. For this option you need to first softmod the vWii.

Keep in mind that the update feature of Nintendont caused me problems when using the first option, so if you have some issues with that then in order to update you would to delete the previous injection and create a new one with the updated Nintendont version. But this is only anecdotal, so I can't confirm if updating trough the first methods work or not.

OK thanks for clarifying that. Makes sense now. I'm getting a wiimote soon so I'm just going to try the forwarder method for now.

No. You can do all this without ever even seeing the vWii IOS "home menu".

I don't know where this idea of needing to softmod the vWii side for this to work is coming from. You don't need to do that at all.

I run this exact setup and I have not once actually pointed a wiimote at my Wii U.

Install a nintendont forwarder to your WiiU home menu. There's one in this thread or Direct link to download. That zip has nintendont inside it as well, but you don't need to copy if over if you have it on your SD card already. If this is a fresh install, then just copy everything from that zip to your SD card.

Put the SD card into the WiiU and start up haxchi, then hbl. Use something like Wup Installer GX2 to install the Nintendont forward. Go back to WiiU home menu. You should see a new icon for Nintendont. Launch it. It will ask if you want to use the gamepad. If you choose "no" it will ask for a wiimote, if you choose "yes" it will just start up Nintendont with the gamepad assigned to the player 1 controller. Nintendont will ask if you want to look for games on SD or USB. Pick SD. Choose your game and play it with the gamepad. Before launching the game you can also configure Nintendont using the menus built into the application. All this can be done using the gamepad. The settings persists though so if you're swapping between games that have something like 16:9 support and those that don't, you'll probably want to change the setting accordingly before launching your game.

Note that Nintendont requires your game isos to be named "game.iso" in order to be seen. See the Nintendont thread for more details.

It's basically exactly what you described. You can install the forwarder to WiiU's NAND or to a USB hard drive. Keep mind the forwarder is very tiny, so even if you're "out of room" on your NAND, I'm pretty sure it'll fit...

With this setup you don't need a WiiMote or sensor bar at any point.

Is there any way to do this but with USB Loader GX? I prefer the menu and being able to see the artwork.

Keep in mind my goal is to be able to control and play all my GC games on the WiiU tablet.

pretty sure, yes, but you have to have a usb loader gx forwarder that supports the gamepad.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
