Thanks for the replies everyone. I really like how straight forward this place is. As I said, my previous knowledge was from a collection of Google searches (some landed here too), so it’s amalgamated into hodgepodge or contradictory information. I’ll rely strictly on this forum from now on if I can. May need to clear up some of that false stuff I’ve collected though.

Anyway, yeah, ideally I’d like to locate one that hasn’t been tampered with. I’ve stumbled across a few that are modded though. Being so affords the ability to run 3DSident, which in turn may confirm a dual IPS. I’m also chasing that, but it may be a fruitless exercise.

Thanks for the replay. I'll buy another one microSD,then try that. right now I'm using retro Arch to play GBA games, but I still need to figure out how to play DS games. LOL.

Thanks for the info, I'll screenshot this and try at the new SD Card.

You can use Twilight menu to play DS games, It will boot to DS mode and allow you to load .nds games from your SD card.

Hello! I came here in hopes of fixing my bricked DS flashcard!

I've done this in the past when I CFW'd my own o3DS XL, where I flashed my R4i SDHC RTS Lite and used it to do the whole CFW installation shabam, and naturally once I was done I simply restored it on the ntrboot screen (holding start during powerup). It all worked back then. Now it's been a while and I've definitely got a little rusty on the knowledge of 3DS CFW, a friend of mine wants me to hack his doorstop 2DS.

After running ntrflash or whatever it's called, the 2DS should boot some magical screen after holding X+Start+Select+Power for several seconds when in sleep mode (As seen in the 3ds.guide). Unfortunately that's not what happened; see I either made a mistake of not placing the correct files on the 2DS SD card, or I misplaced files on the R4i SDHC. All resulting in a 2DS that appears to still be in stock retail (no cfw installed) and a non-functional R4i SDHC that isn't detected when placed in any of my DS devices.

My first thoughts were; "Huh, weird. I guess I'll restore the flash of my R4i SDHC and try again." I placed the Flashcart in my trusty o3DS XL and booted up the ntrflash manager thingie. At first restoring didn't work; giving me a "Restore file is missing" or something like that. Then from my empty skull I thought it would be a good idea to 'Dump Flash'. After I did that the 'Restore Flashcard' it seemed like it worked, considering that I got a message saying that the restoration was successful.

That's where things go down hill, after rebooting the o3DS XL, the flashcard didn't show up. I've tried to restore it a couple times now. It's getting me no where. I heard that there is a backup file or something on 3ds.guide that will help me, but I haven't looked too deep into it. At first I didn't want to include the whole story but I believe that it was necessary.

Thanks!

If you have a Japanese LL 3DS, is there any way to change the system language to English with a CFW or such? Will the console default to the Japanese online store?

My 3DS (I think) won’t connect to the internet when in Homebrew apps, such as LumaUpdater. For example, if I go into LumaUpdater, the app says that it can’t get the latest update information and to check if the device is connected to the internet. The internet works fine when in Nintendo programs though, so I don’t know what’s going on. Is there any fix for this?

Its likely that you have a fairly old luma updater program, look at https://gbatemp.net/threads/luma3ds-updater-version-2-5-fix-version-2-4.559138/ and download version 2.5 to use.

N3DSXL. FastBoot3DS v1.2. Luma3DS10.2. Chainloading GodMode9 through either: accessing virtual drive M. opt.mem is present, along with others, but boot9.bin and boot11.bin are missing. I know I can dump them from FastBoot3DS itself. But I'm curious why they won't show in GM9. The only requirement stated on GM9 page is to be using BS9. And the preferred method if FastBoot3DS via OFI (which is what I did). Any thoughts?

Both of those are illegal files to distribute freely. Thats the whole reason behind you being able to dump them yourself with the process mentioned.

That in no way answers my question.

Let me rephrase.

The boot9.bin and boot11.bin files are supposed to be in GodMode9's M: drive for easy copying, as long as your device is running B9S. They are NOT in my M drive under GM9. The only way I can access them is by dumping them via FastBoot3DS.

Why aren't they visible in GM9? Yes I"m using 1.9.1

M: MEMORY VIRTUAL: This provides access to various memory regions. This is protected by a special write permission, and caution is advised when doing modifications inside this drive. This drive also gives access to boot9.bin, boot11.bin (boot9strap only) and otp.mem (sighaxed systems only).

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Unless by B9S it is referring to the specific loader and not the generic B9S. I didn't think about that. Nevermind!

Have you dumped then at least once before? Im not sure why you cannot see them. Mine shows both files. I use both b9s v1.3 and likely the second most recent gm9.

Yes, I have dumped them recently. They do not show. I am using FastBoot3DS 1.2. I'm not using vanilla b9s. That is probably why they do not show. Although I had thought the readme was referring to boot9strap as the method, not the specific loader.

Maybe this explains a bit:
https://github.com/derrekr/fastboot3DS/issues/27

This seems to be the part which in initializes [M:] Memory Virtual
https://github.com/d0k3/GodMode9/blob/master/arm9/source/virtual/vmem.c

Have fun reading the source. Could be this "// boot9 not found" and "// boot11 not found"

Code:
 while (++vdir->index < n_templates) {
        // copy current template to vfile
        memcpy(vfile, templates + vdir->index, sizeof(VirtualFile));

        // process special flags
        if (((vfile->flags & VFLAG_N3DS_EXT) && (IS_O3DS))   || // this is not on O3DS consoles and locked by sighax
            ((vfile->flags & VFLAG_OTP) && !(IS_UNLOCKED))   || // OTP still locked
            ((vfile->flags & VFLAG_BOOT9) && !(HAS_BOOT9))   || // boot9 not found
            ((vfile->flags & VFLAG_BOOT11) && !(HAS_BOOT11)) || // boot11 not found
            ((vfile->flags & VFLAG_OTP_KEY) && !(HAS_OTP_KEY))) // OTP key not found
            continue;

        // found if arriving here
        return true;

Yes. Ty. So the readme was indeed referring to boot9strap the loader versus the method. Thanks for clarifying this for me!
