Okay, looks like I will be updating my 3ds now and I will try seedminer once updates and let you know how everything went, and again thank you soo much for your help, your the best[emoji3590]
I have been getting a lot of problems with GBA VC graphical glitch bug. I already tried to follow a lot of tips at this forum, not seems to be able to fix. (Quadruple reformat as well)
I do use a 128GB SD Card, switching the cluster size (already tried 32KB and 64KB). I have the new 2dsXL. Does someone knows how to fix?
Hello! I came here in hopes of fixing my bricked DS flashcard!
I've done this in the past when I CFW'd my own o3DS XL, where I flashed my R4i SDHC RTS Lite and used it to do the whole CFW installation shabam, and naturally once I was done I simply restored it on the ntrboot screen (holding start during powerup). It all worked back then. Now it's been a while and I've definitely got a little rusty on the knowledge of 3DS CFW, a friend of mine wants me to hack his doorstop 2DS.
After running ntrflash or whatever it's called, the 2DS should boot some magical screen after holding X+Start+Select+Power for several seconds when in sleep mode (As seen in the 3ds.guide). Unfortunately that's not what happened; see I either made a mistake of not placing the correct files on the 2DS SD card, or I misplaced files on the R4i SDHC. All resulting in a 2DS that appears to still be in stock retail (no cfw installed) and a non-functional R4i SDHC that isn't detected when placed in any of my DS devices.
My first thoughts were; "Huh, weird. I guess I'll restore the flash of my R4i SDHC and try again." I placed the Flashcart in my trusty o3DS XL and booted up the ntrflash manager thingie. At first restoring didn't work; giving me a "Restore file is missing" or something like that. Then from my empty skull I thought it would be a good idea to 'Dump Flash'. After I did that the 'Restore Flashcard' it seemed like it worked, considering that I got a message saying that the restoration was successful.
That's where things go down hill, after rebooting the o3DS XL, the flashcard didn't show up. I've tried to restore it a couple times now. It's getting me no where. I heard that there is a backup file or something on 3ds.guide that will help me, but I haven't looked too deep into it. At first I didn't want to include the whole story but I believe that it was necessary.
Hi, I know noob threads are generally ‘there are no stupid questions’ friendly, but I’m going to try to test that statement...
Am I able to install CFW and all that jazz on a new 3DS if it’s 11.4 firmware or above (most 3ds I’ve looked at seem to have 11.6, 11.7 etc.). I’ve looked up guides, like the one on reddit, and most say you can’t do it after 11.4, but some guides say you can? Maybe I’m reading it wrong.
Is it possible? Do I need any additional items? I just don’t want to buy a 3DS and come to find it’ll have to stay on stock. I know this is probably a really stupid question.

Not a stupid question. Every 2|3DS can have CFW without buying anything. Stay away from video guides. They are often bad and/or outdated and/or fail explaining important steps. With 11.4 or higher simply update to latest version and use Seedminer.

Thank you! I read some of the guide. At the bottom, it says: Seedminer + unSAFE_MODE. Is this a continuation of the modding process, or has the mod been completed? Just confused if I also need to do the steps contained within.

There is a problem with latest Luma3DS and GodMode9. If GodMode9 does not start when doing the finalizing part, simply add an additional payload (like an older GodMode9) to SD:/luma/payloads

3 - Reading about it, it sounds like I upload a unique key of my system to a sever in a step somewhere (still trying to find out when I do this) in the guide to do some work to crack/inject some code.
That sound a bit worrying to me, only because I’d worry Nintendo might find/get that info from the site and I’d be banned or something.
(BUT if I’m wrong on this part, then just ignore this worrying point.)
This is significantly more work (does a noob-friendly manual exist?). I guess it would only lead to much more cries for help/assistance than the automated service. When it was offline for some days… not fun.
To be honest I never used any of Seedminer the methods. Preparing ntrboot on a new device (SD) takes about a minute and is independent of any service or setup on the computer (Yes, Sinchen sometimes is a lazy girl). However, Seedminer is an excellent thing allowing CFW for everbody without any additional hardware.
Indeed, It needs some work to be done, and some powerful GPU. but some people aren't able to get flashcart(like me, I can't purchase to foreign sellers), Seedminer is really helpful for those people because We don't need additional things, just Internet connection, SD and computer(even without that bruteforce site, If you have enough patience, experience, GPU that is not too old it's possible imho).

That being said, We might need a simple tutorial about running it locally. Not sure if it can be done simple though, I would like to look it up but I'm kinda busy now(School entrance thing, I have to study hard and yet I'm here lurking gbatemp lol)
=====EDIT=====
BTW I have a question too, kinda opinion based.
I'm currently using 8GB Micro SD for my 3DS, is it enough? I'm not playing game often with my 3DS, so I don't need a large storage to install games.

Quadruple reformat the SD card in FAT32 + (32768) 32 KB cluster size. You must use all four (4) of those specified programs in that order. See the attached image. In the 4th reformatting with MiniTool Partition Wizard (free edition), if there is an unallocated partition, make sure to merge this with the active partition. You want a single partition for the end result.
Full Write + Verify the empty card in H2testw. Delete the *.h2w test files if the result comes back [GOOD]. If the card was found to be [BAD], you must retire the hardware failed card, get a replacement, and go back to step 2. Check my signature for microSD cards.
Build a test setup. Except for the 1–3 CIAs created from step 1, do not add back anything from your main setup.
Safely eject the card from computer. Insert the card into the n2DSXL. Turn on the system, hold the (SELECT) button, and use these settings for Luma3DS v10.2 configuration. Press (START) to save, exit, and boot to HOME Menu.
Rosalina menu inject Homebrew Launcher to a system title of choice. When access is gained to FBI, install those CIAs injections.
(A) If the graphical glitch bug is still present, continue to step 9. (B) If the graphical glitch bug has been fixed, jump to step 13.
9. Copy everything off the SD card to your computer. Keep this test setup separate from your main setup.
10. Quadruple reformat the SD card again but this time in FAT32 + (65536) 64 KB cluster size.
11. Copy the test setup (from step 9) back onto the SD card.
12. Play those GBA VC injections again.
(C) If the graphical glitch bug is STILL present, jump to the mah shitz FUBAR'd. (D) If the graphical glitch bug has been fixed, continue to step 13.
13. Delete the test setup on the SD card. Copy the main setup (from step 2) back onto the SD card.

It looks like your 128 GB microSD card is a special dud.
It could be yours is an old model with a bad controller where it has a slower I/O speeds that doesn't load GBA game quick enough when switching to AGB_FIRM. You can try to trimming the capacity where the 'unallocated partition' is brought back, sacrificing free space in increments of 1 GB until the bug goes away. This will effectively make your SD card "smaller" (ie, usual capacity of ~120 GB but limited to 119, 118, 117, etc).
Other than that, there's getting another 128 GB microSD card (try a different brand than the one you got).
If I get a second hand 3DS and it already has CFW, is it safe to update it to the latest firmware? I’ve read different things from different sources, some saying you need to to use internet services, some saying doing so will break interactions. A bit confused there

The only place ya ever need to be able the 3ds is here. You will get straight answers about whats what. Yes its safe to update consoles with cfw on them already. Most times its advised simply to wait and see if anything happens when a update rolls out. If any of the cfw items dont work. The devs here will usually fix them within hours.

Short answer: Official firmware updates on latest Luma3DS are fine. Luma protects B9S from being overwritten and is compatible with all firmware versions.
Longer answer:
While updating on latest version is no problem at all, this is not fully true for old Luma (older than v9.1): It might lead to "Failed to apply 1 FIRM patch(es)". With very old setups with Menuhax and the like CFW will break on update (not brick the device).
I don't recommend buying pre-modded systems. You never know what the previous owner did and you don't learn anything by doing so. They might have deleted console-unique data, not have a clean NAND image… In addition to that some people try to sell modded systems for a ridiculous price (maybe arguing with a lot of illegal copies already installed which are worth $0 in addition to being illegal). Modding a 3DS with 3ds.hacks,guide yourself only takes very little time… and you will know what (good) state your console is afterwards.
