Which looks better, Xbox Series X or PS5?

Now that both console designs are out, I'm wondering what you guys think about which is better based purely on looks? Personally I think the series X wins by a tail, while my friend swears on the PS5. Now might not be the best time to ask as one is fresh in our minds while the other is a bit faded, but Nonetheless it's still something interesting to think about.

the Switch isn't a PCMCIA modem, they are all fine;
if it was, then I would go for the PS5; it looks the most like a router, the XSX only kinda looks like a NAS, and I already have a Switch.

Microsoft went for the most generic, bland design they possibly could, while Sony went in the completely opposite direction and gave their designers shrooms before they started working. I'll take trying too hard over not trying at all any day, so I definitely prefer PS5 even if I liked some fan concept designs better.

I also foresee an issue with people returning other electronics inside the XBSX box for a profit, since there are a million other devices with almost the exact same look and most retail employees aren't gonna notice.

@Hambrew interesting way of ranking their looks, although if I was gonna use it as a router I dont think I would have a preference.

@Xzi I agree with what your points mostly beside coming to a completely different verdict lol. I like the series X mostly for the form factor, which is pretty polarizing, but the console is inoffensive for the most part and definitely pretty lazily designed.

As for the ps5... I think I would like it if it was just a bit more streamlined and with a few tweaks. The two toned stuff is fine but it would look better if it was all one solid color. And the 2 mismatched usb ports are understandable but dont mesh well with me. The biggest problem in my mind is the disc drive looking like it was just shoved in, like if you just put it in between a book. I do prefer the digital edition looks wise but... its digital and that just makes it not worth it. If they put it where the USB ports were or even kept the curve uniform it wouldnt bother me as much.

PS5 looks pretty nice. The other one looks like it's taking the "Box" part of its name too seriously.

Honestly neither looks good to me, but if I had to make a choice... PS5.
I mean to me Xbox Series X might as well be a mini tower. At least Sony tried something different.
I feel like PS5's looks will grow on people just like XBSX's grew on some others.

The X for me. The PS5 looks too much like a router and would look out of place underneath my TV.

No real preference as yet... I think I need to see both up close before I'll favour one over the other.
They're stylistically at opposite ends of the spectrum, but neither of them evoke a genuine 'wow' factor.

Both are ugly, so the question is really which one is the ugliest. The XBSX looks too box-y, but I do like the solution of the internal components. It also seems it will fit better in with the rest of the TV setup, but not sure if that's very important for a game console though.

The PS5 looks like they tried too hard to be "futuristic". except it's the year 2005. I think they've already made plans for what the slim/"whatever revision" will look like and it'll be leagues better than this thing and much more simple.

I’d buy a console these days based on the games / experience offered, however based on looks the Xbox Series X wins by a long way. I could just imagine that sat on my desk connected to my PC monitor or by the TV. Simple but elegant.

Just from the design I would choose the PS5. I hope they will do one in black though, the mix of white and black would only look good in really few rooms.
Xbox Series X Design is also cool, but more for performance.

I personally like Xbox for it’s straight out of the backwards compatibility with previous consoles as well as not changing much on the software level (ui and etc.) also all previous controllers will work with it. And I seen a build process on it and not ps5 but the Xbox is simple to take a part so that’s a plus for repairs.

Well, if you're choosing make sure it's for looks alone. All of those are pluses except if the ui is basically the xbox one ui because I hate that. I'm still waiting out on which console I would actually buy, but probably ps5 (especially if they have backwards compatibility with all playstations)

Series X is bland as fuck, PS5 is over designed. Neither looks good, but neither looks awful either IMO.

But I don't really care one way or the other, it's not like I'm going to be staring at the console at any point so meh.
