Video filters have been broken for forever apparently on Vita... until just a few days ago. The nightlies finally lets you use them long term without crashing. Try normal 2x filter + bilinear interpolation for something pretty close to the sharp bilinear shader on other systems. Great for filling up the vitas screen while remaining sharp, at least on 240p cores.

Just read that RA updated to 1.8.3 and says that some cores have a REALLY good boost on Vita and PSP.

I dont have my Vita at hand, but my holy grail were the Arcade Mortal Kombat games. Specifically 2 and Ultimate MK3.

If anyone manage to test them, please tag me with news!

Thx!

Would be nice to have MK Games running perfectly.

EDIT - @MKKhanzo -
MAME2003
MK - Slow still.
MKII - Slow as well

MAME2003+
MK - Still Slow. VERY slow
MKII - Same. VERY slow.

This is not true at all. I still keep a ~2017 version because SNES and FBA cores got slower over time. And the UI is as bloated as ever.

Snes performance has been weird. The music stays in time and the FPS reports 60, but it looks like frames are being dropped. I didn't think snes9x had built in auto frameskip so wonder what is going on.

Is it possible that another SNES core worked better? For example bsnes ...?

Official Vita retroarch only includes snes9x variants. Though I thought BSNES was way more demanding, which is probably not something we can afford on Vita when snes9x 2010 can struggle.

I did just try snes9x 2002 on a N2DS and saw barely any of the same frameskip. Try butter bridge 2 in SMW for an example of frequent frameskip on Vita that shouldn't be there.

Hello, can you guys make Neo Geo games work in Retroarch 1.8.3? I understand that there should be specific romsets that would match the core. FB Alpha is at v.0.2.97.29 and I'm having trouble looking for appropriate romsets. Any tips and recommendations?

You can get specific romsets for neogeo which are not very large.
Just make sure the neo.zip file is in the Retroarch system folder.

Which is the actual best NES core on Vita?
Nestopia, then FCEUmm then quicknes

BTW i have a problem, in my psvita Nestopia lags with all games, even SMB drops frames, but for other people Nestopia works fine. What could be the problem? Anyone else having this o similar problems?

Using any video filters? Those add a significant stress to the CPU. Cores that were just about fullspeed will start lagging with even the simplest of filters.

Release after release, still hoping the atari800 core will make it to the RetroArch core list. Is there anyone "in the know" that could tell me if there's any point in waiting any longer?

Emulating Atari 8-bit computers (and Atari 5200) on the PS Vita via Adrenaline and PSP's atari800 emulator is kindof cool, but not very practical.

Can someone advise on the best settings for the Mupen64 core please.
Seems to stutter a fair bit on my setup.
Updated to latest RA from an old setup which worked a lot better.
Have deleted config etc
