The Nintendo 3DS has a new firmware update available in the form of v11.12.0-44

It's stability time! A brand new update is out, for the Nintendo 3DS. Firmware version 11.12.0-44 has just released, bringing with it...well, no one knows exactly what it brings with it just yet. The yls8 page shows the update having gone out for most regions tonight, but Nintendo's official website hasn't updated to show the changelog (and obvious stability additions) as of the time of writing. What we do currently know is, a handful of titles have been updated thanks to this new firmware, including NVer, CVer, StreetPass, friends system-module, NATIVE_FIRM and Web browser data. More information will be added as things become more clear.

UPDATE: And to no one's surprise, here are the patch notes from Nintendo:

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

Currently, Luma still boots, but is not confirmed to be 100% working, while other homebrew and CFW are being tested.

Venezuela should start using 3DS' as their currency since they are probably more stable!

Me, a Venezuelan, can confirm and vouch for that to be true.

I actually invested in 4 3DS's while i lived in Venezuela merely because they were actually more profitable to have as goods than the actual money on the bank!

Surprised to see that Nintendo still bothers to update the system this late in it´s lifecycle. Oh, well.

What would be nice in a new update would be removing any discontinued apps such as Miiverse.
No, that would be horrible! It would kill revival attempts!

Seriously. Likewise for the Wii U. When TVii stopped service they removed that entirely from the Wii U. Yet the Miiverse remains, completely inaccessible. I suppose the Wii U would likely demand an update for the WaraWaraPlaza at that since the 2 are directly tied together, displaying something different on the second screen like just a splash screen for the title you're currently highlighting or whatever would suffice. But I know the Wii U is far more dead than the 3DS, so this likely wont ever happen officially.

Interesting. I’ll be sure not to update my 3DS until it is confirmed whether Homebrew will work or not. Thanks!

I'd update my N2DS XL if the battery didn't die completely (as in, no capacity) and since replacing one is a royal pain in the ass, yeah, no thanks.
I'd send it in to Nintendo but since it's hacked, not happening either.
