Here's my question, I currently have 2 switches that have never been used before. I bought them brand new and only opened them to check firmware. Is there any reason to stay on the lower firmware anymore? I've been meaning to hack at least one of these and never got around to it. Its been a few years of owning these and my daughter has expressed interest in playing a game online so any advice as to what I should do would be appreciated. Regardless I will update one so she can do so. Thanks in advance!

If you are content with using the RCM exploit, then there's no reason not to update to 9.0.0. You can update while preserving fuses using something like ChoiDujourNX if you want to preserve the ability to downgrade. You could also use an updated emuNAND without updating your sysNAND.

Can you go online with an emunand? Think I’ve seen you can be banned.

Sysnand for online and sysnand for homebrew.

That does mean an updated sysnand and blown fuses.

Better to have one clean online unit and one homebrew seeing as u have 2

The safest setup is to use a clean sysNAND for online play and a dirty emuNAND for all hackery. You can connect your emuNAND to the internet, but you should install 90DNS and/or Incognito to it so the dirty emuNAND cannot connect to Nintendo's servers and get you banned.

@SylverReZ, I dislike the kind of drm where you have to play single player games online all the time bc of some verification bs

@Xdqwerty, Don't use games that have Easy Anti-Cheat as its been exploited many times.

@SylverReZ, my PC can't run most AAA games so i wont

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

Either that or their old games were unfinished aswell but we can't notice it

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, I have a rom of the ds version of impossible mission
