Nintendo to have "irregular" schedule in adding new SNES and NES games.

Nintendo's Japanese website has stated that SNES and NES games will be added to the service in an irregular manner rather than a monthly one. That means we could see much more than 2 or 3 games a month. It also means we could see much less. It is unknown what spurred Nintendo to go this route, but it is speculated that it is in response to the drip-feed of NES games. Whether it is a positive or negative response remains to be seen. What do you think? Is Nintendo about to release games at an abysmal rate, or will we see a dramatic increase??

Maybe it's done as a way to make sure no one misunderstands that these releases are the "free games every month" thing PS+ does.
I'm not sure about the frequency of releasing, we'll have to see. One other idea I have in mind is that Nintendo is just applying their unpredictability strategy to these releases to make it more exciting.

So, in short, "we're releasing new titles whenever we feel like it"
Only time will tell what that means for the consumers. But at the very least, it'll come as a surprise every time they release more NES/SNES games, so that's cool I guess.

Not surprised in the least but at the end of the day, I'm cool with whatever is released. It's just SNES games on Switch and nothing to go crazy over at this point.

Adding games on random days not a good idea as obviously some gamers may not notice what has been released-weekly best option on a certain day 2 a week is what is ideal

I think it'll average out to a similar release rate, but some months we might get zero where others we might get six or something like that. In any case I'm glad they gave us so many great games at launch.

This could very well the platform for Square-Enix to translate/port their RPG Backlog to the west.
Maybe even Mother 3 if Nintendo ever decides to bring the GBA and Mother to the switch.

News of the future:

We are now 'delisting' the following games......

it will not be long before older titles that been out for year or more, start to get removed.
No one would care as most gamers backlogs are longer than Pinocchios nose
