So it's 2019 and people are still hacking the Wii and creating new/updated mods. I'm hoping someone has been able to create a menu like the "DarkWii" theme but instead of one static color, it changes like an LED fade. Anyone know if this has been tried??

@JaapDaniels No, more like this but instead of the blue lines staying blue, they keep fading to different colors like an led strip, you know? Also making a theme is too complicated for me tbh, especially if it’s to include animation.

@MythicalData Ye I know that but thanks for the heads up, regardless :)

can't changesomething that's not animated to animation, but the bootscreen and so on is animated...banners and channels are animated...
if you really wanna mess that much with the menu, you'd have to reverse engineer it yourself better than the tools made to be are...
see in:
there used to be more tools, but i can't find those.

@XFlak what happined to wadder? i used the tools there and DevKitPro to make my own custom forwarders (lost all my tools when i sold my demo wii, that was tho most compltere modded wii i ver seen).
Wadder was replaced by customize mii, which IIRC basically does the same thing but it's a bit easier to set up and use.

While customize Mii can build forwarders, "advanced" or complex forwarders require dev kit installed, and even those forwarders aren't as optimal as the ones you can compile directly. The issue is that it's a real pain in the ass setting up devkit, the latest libraries are broken and finding the latest versions without bugs is a real challenge. Luckily, ModMii can build advanced forwarders for you. Go to modmii classic's advanced downloads to build a forwarder dol or forwarder iso. You can feed modmii with whatever paths you want for your forwarder, and modmii will save a copy of a base/template wad and hex edit it with the paths you identify. Then you can take the dol and inject it into a wad using customize Mii or similar tools.

used it for cleanrip forwarder that actually worked, based on WiiMC forwarder i thought or it must've been usbloadergx, one of these forwarder didn't trip ahbprot. with customize mii, the ahbprot bug came back, never really found a fix.

that's the theme I'm using with the vwii. my normal wii is using the dark theme, and the boot screen shows smoke coming out of wii's disc slot. it's really nice looking.

Ahbprot forwarder channels need to have a compatible dol but also a modified/compatible base wad (I can't remember exactly but there was 1 minor change from a 0 to a 1 or something in the tmd). Basically though as long as you start with a base wad that is already ahbprot enabled, and you inject a new ahbprot dol in it, it will still work. For example, you can use the USB loader forwarder channel that comes with ModMii as a starting point/base, then inject a new/custom forwarder dol built by ModMii, and make other cosmetic tweaks if you want, and it will properly enable ahbprot for the application it launches.

that's what i kept hearing, but for cleanrip somehow it didn't work as it worked in wadder.
base wad (no ahbprot) the app will not start.
base wad ahbprot patched, is not patched, but shuts ahbprot meaning cleanrip would not have acces to multiple drives, so the ap's there but it will not work.
i don't really know how it's done, but usbloadergx needs the same soort of acces to function, so what works for usbloadergx, works for cleanrip...
but customize mii replaces too much of the code... cleanrip didn't work when i used usbloadergx forwarder as base in any way i could find.

Imo I would use ThemeMii to customise wii colours, you could technically program a pice of homebrew that changes your wii skin every time you power on your system...
Hmm, still not the animated color change, but thanks for the recommendation. I’m surprised this isn’t possible to do but no biggie

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.
