The Original DOOM trilogy has quietly launched on Switch/PS4/XB1

Launching with little fanfare are the first three DOOM games, in order to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary. Bethesda has brought DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 3 to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. They're all currently available to buy digitally, with the first two games costing $4.99, while 3 is priced at $9.99. The first two games are also on both iOS and Android, if you enjoy your classic games on the go.

Celebrate Doom’s 25th anniversary with the re-release of the original Doom (1993). First released in 1993, Doom introduced millions of gamers to the fast-paced, white-knuckle, demon-slaying action the franchise is known for.

Experience the classic demon-blasting fun that popularized the genre home or on-the-go.

Doom (1993) includes:

  • The expansion, Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed, with nine additional action-packed levels
  • Local four-player deathmatch
  • Local four-player co-op
Doom II
Celebrate Doom‘s 25th anniversary with the re-release of Doom II. This beloved sequel to the groundbreaking Doom (1993) gave players the brutal Super Shotgun to bear against deadlier demons, and the infamous boss, the Icon of Sin.

Battle the demon hordes at home or on-the-go on Nintendo Switch.

The re-release of Doom II includes:

  • The Master Levels, 20 additional levels made by the community and supervised by the developers
  • Local four-player multiplayer
  • Local four-player co-op
To save Earth, you must descend into the depths of hell, survive demon hordes, and take part in the fiercest battle ever.

Doom 3
Celebrate Doom‘s 25th anniversary with the release of Doom 3, available for the first time on Nintendo consoles.

In this critically acclaimed action-horror re-telling of the original Doom, players must battle their way through a demon-infested facility before entering the abyss to battle Hell’s mightiest warrior—and put an end to the invasion.

Doom 3 includes the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Missions expansion packs.

It's such a non demanding game that I would be blown away if there was any form of performance difference in any way at all.
I can only assume that input lag, unnecessary acceleration, poor dead zones and awkward UI will be a part of it. Seems to be the trend with the more modern, official ports of classic games.

Also, the play store versions are 400MB..and require account registration? Really? Does this mean the Switch port will as well?

Others are now reporting that the Internet connection requirement and Bethesda.net login is a one time thing only. Keep checking the usual places for updates on this.

That's why I'm not super excited for emulators on the Switch. All the games I wanted are landing on the Switch (psp: god eater, pc: torchlight II) and the list goes.

Still bullshit though to be honest. You made the purchase. You were online. Forcing peopke to sign up a new account after making a purchase like that is bs imo. Shouldn't be allowed.

I never cared about Doom 3, played Doom 1 and 2 a lot. Then got into Duke Nuken 3D and that keep me busy for a while. After that, I went crazy for point and click games.

Unless is a boxed version with the three games in? Not caring to buy this. Not with the Switch not having a backup feature like the PS3 and PS4.

Does Doom 3 require the internet connection too?
I'm fine with PrBoom/GzDoom on Switch for the originals (and all their PWADS and IWADS), it's just Doom 3 I care about.

Damn right it's bullshit. There should be no need for a 'registration' or Internet access at all once the game has been installed.

yes, yes, Yes, YES! I need Doom and Doom II on switch! The next best thing I got is the 3DS homebrew port... suffice to say it’d be nice to have a portable version of Doom that didn’t frequently crash the entire system.

Happy and interested in this, but I'm worried if I'll get motion sickness. I can't pay it on PC because of it, but handheld on Switch might work better :)

Online and Bethesda account sucks though, I just don't see the reason for it to be a thing, but oh well.
