ReverseNX - Flag your console as handheld or docked

ReverseNX

Combination of SaltyNX patches that force games to think that you are using docked or handheld mode.

You can use it to change graphics settings and unlock some options that are available only in docked/handheld mode. For now in experimental phase, because SaltyNX has many bugs that need to be patched.

To use ReverseNX, you need to use ReverseNX-Tool which can be downloaded at the end of this post. Check readme in repo to learn how to use it.

When forcing docked mode, it is recommended to use OC settings exactly as used in docked mode:

  • SaltyNX is still under development, so it may cause issues on it's own. More in SaltyNX repo.

ok im super hyped about this, sadly im using emummc :/

still for someone like me that use highest possible clocks and always plays handheld connected to the charger, this is a bless

btw, anyone tried botw vr mode with this patch?

also, mario odyssey should look way better

Just tested this on Ys 8 version 1.04 on firmware 8.10, working perfectly.

Ys 8 load times are slightly improved, some textures look a bit sharper.

Also tested Night in the Woods and the loading times seem to be much faster

I typically play in handheld mode with official charging dock so this is perfect, thanks

Two joycons attached to the handheld work just fine even though the console thinks it's docked, at some games it will ask you to press L+R again on start up but that's it

I was meaning the other way round. So detached joycons and docked, playing in handheld mode. Pokemon’s go only supports Left and Right joycons together in handheld mode by default.

An app that let's you switch between handheld and TV mode? that's what I've always wanted count me in.
Is there a workaround to getting Pokemon Let's Go to recognize both joycons paired as on in TV mode. Hopefully it can he achieved by using this app.

IF someone, sometime exploits the new switch model coming (tegra revision, 1,5x more battery life), then this would be even more awesome. I suposing this will drain a lot faster, right?

Tests were done on FW 7.0.1-8.1.0, Atmosphere 0.9.1-0.9.2
It should work with ReinX too.
SX OS is not supported.

Plugin works always globally. For now flag per titleid is not supported (this would need modifications in SaltyNX).
Flags: create in folder saltysd/plugins/ReverseNX/ empty file:
  • docked.flag for docked mode
or
  • handheld.flag for handheld mode
When both flags are there or none of them, plugin will ignore loading.

For docked flag is recommended to use OC settings exactly as used in docked mode:

Known issues:
  • Instability with some homebrews
  • SaltyNX is still under development, so it may cause issues on it's own. Different versions of game can behave diversely.
  • Some games may need reinstalling for this to work.
  • EmuMMC freezes.
  • 32-bit games are unsupported.

my switch now freezes upon bootup. after trying to copy this on my sd card. im using kosmos 12.2 at firmware 8.0.1.

sorry just a newbie in this plugins.

Tried it and sadly no it wont let you play on TV with joycons removed since while it does think its in handheld it still sees you having detached the joycons.

Would need another plugin that tells the switch the joycons are attached when they are not.
