I'm using a japanese one because I wanted a small new 3ds and I was able to find a japanese one for really cheap compared to how much the US versions cost due to them all being limited sale. The language itself isn't really a problem since I have a usa 3ds to compare to if I can't figure something out but this is the first time an update has failed so I was trying to see why.

Ok. I need some help. Just got my New 3ds xl. Basiccly, I got it for SNES VC games. I installed some, but most of them don't work!
I noticed that snes games have dat files. How to install those in FBI?
Also, I injected Chrono Trigger into cia (with Ultimate SNES VC Injector for 3DS) and works great, however when I injected Zelda Third and Forth Quest, 3ds Freezes.
Can you tell me how to inject Zeldas, and install dats for snes CIA?

Try making the cias once more using https://gbatemp.net/threads/discussion-new-super-ultimate-injector-nsui.500376/ this injector. You should have better luck with this one.

You'd be better off finding already injected and tested cias to download. They aren't hard to find.

Has anybody seen this weird behavior before:
N3DSXL with good battery (almost fully charged) starts blinking red after less than half an hour of playing. Turning off and on → still blinking red.

"Huh? You okay?? That battery is not drained!"

When I came home, I took out the battery for two reasons:
  • Resetting RAM
  • measuring voltage → 3.95V
After reinserting the battery the N3DSXL returned to normal (Rosalina showing over 90% charge). I could play on for hours (like expected) before charging again.

Edit: Something like this has happened in the past:

Was it the Cellonic battery? If it happens again, swap the batteries between your o3DSXL and n3DSXL to see if it's the battery or n3DSXL.
For now it happened only once. I will use that specific system more in the next few days. The N3DSXL still has the original battery that came with the system – less than a year old and less than 50 cycles.

The third-party batteries in the old systems are still okay – good running time and no problems until now.

Hi,
Im trying to use 3dsconv 4.2. It's work fine only with one .3ds file. I have boot9.bin in the same folder as 3dsconv.exe, but when I put my .3ds files onto .exe it's only start for 1 sec, program show black window and immediately turns off... Anybody know what could be wrong?
I know i can use my 3ds to convert file with gm9 but one of them have more than 4gb so i must do it on my pc.

If you run it through a command window you'll be able to see the output, there may be a helpful error message.

3dsconv shows something like this. After that i download tool to change file from encrypted to decrypted but that's shows still the same message.
ssaa.png

After I change type of file to decrypted i trim them and put to my sd card. I dont know why but i cant do nothing with that file with gm9, I cant build .cia/encrypt/decrypt, every single procces is failed... What's wrong? I have the same problem with one more .3ds file

I just received a 3DS from a friend that he wants CFW on. It is on Ver. 11.0.0-28u. I tried searching up homebrew methods for this version, and could not find anything of use. Should I just update to the latest version? Is it even hackable?

See the scenario in this thread, 3DS to cia.

To check if your 3DS rom is a good dump,
  • GodMode9 → 0:/.../example.3dsNCSD image options...Verify file.
You want Verification success.

Probably a silly question, but I've never seen an answer before:

Things like Sudokuhax and Fredtool involve substituting a different program for an already-installed DSiware title.

Does this mean it's at least theortically possible to substitute any DSiware title for any other DSiware title, even without CFW, as long as you have your movable.sed and provided you're not substituting a smaller title with a larger title? I don't suppose there's a tool for automating the process, is there?

No. You change the title to homebrew to install cfw. Or however this stuff works.

I've been out of the scene for a while. I want to get a 2ds for my nephew/niece and hack it before giving it to them. Nintendo proper is selling refurbs on ebay for $50 a piece, which is a heck of a deal. Last time I hacked a 3ds, it was a huge pain that involved a system transfer because the one I purchased was above a certain firmware. I read that all firmwares are hackable now. Is there anything I need to be aware of before I order these refurbs from Nintendo or am I good to go?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
