So I want to dump the NAND of my Wii U before I install HAXCHI and possibly CBHC. Currently I use the browser exploit, and while it does work, it's a pain doing it every time I boot.

The confusion is, everything tells me that I need a 64GB SD card to backup the NAND of my 32GB black Wii U. But everything also says that the maximum size SD card that the Wii U can support is 32GB.

So which is it? If I buy a 64GB SDXC card will it "just work"? Despite all the literature that says that the Wii U only supports SDHC cards with a maximum size of 32GB?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Most of the time, the listed maximum capacity is just the highest one tested. In the vast majority of cases, the part that's important is the difference between SD, SDHC, and SDXC. If your SDXC card doesn't work, it's most likely using the wrong filesystem - FAT32 is universally supported by all official software and homebrew that matters. My N3DS runs a 64GB card.

Sadly, the Windows formatter GUI doesn't like formatting XC cards as FAT32, so you'll either need to use the command prompt or a downloadable graphic interface.

Ok I haven't tried a SDXC card yet because I don't have a 64GB card in front of me at the moment. But if the problem is just the FAT32 format restriction that Windows tends to impose on big cards, then that's easy to work around. I do have a 128GB card that's already formatted FAT32, so it should be easy to try.
