PlayStation to start its own brand of Nintendo Direct-like announcement streams called State of Play

vdfgfdg.png

Nintendo really set up an industry precedent with its Nintendo Directs, compiling all major game announcements into a short video, and giving consumers a good look at what games are slated for the future. We saw Microsoft try out a similar format with their Inside Xbox series, where they discuss monthly Game Pass additions, new games, and more. Now, PlayStation is tossing its hat into the ring with the newly announced State of Play video series. The first stream will take place on March 25th, and will showcase upcoming titles for the PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4. You'll be able to tune in on PlayStation's official Twitch or YouTube account. As PlayStation skipped out on last year's PSX, and won't be attending this year's E3, this could be a good way for the company to continue revealing future plans for its software. Currently, there's only a few PS4 exclusives in the works, such as The Last of Us 2, Ghosts of Tsushima, Death Stranding, and Days Gone. Are you looking forward to seeing footage for any of those games?

*Cough* PlayStation Classic
Cough cough sega genesis and its multiple mini versions that plugged into your TV.

Hmmm yea came before Nintendo did its minis so again fanboys fucking failed again.

I'm also sure other systems had mini models too but cant be arsed to list them.

Nintendo simply monopolized off the idea that people were loving these mini pi set ups so why not do one of its systems.

Did Nintendo invent the minis when sega have been doing them for decades.

B. Dude, you have a 3DS logo as a profile picture.

B, nothing to do with anything, care to click the pic and see it in full.

>sony
>creates new ip every few years

>nintendo
>no new ip's since forever

Nintendo sure is original.
on wiiu and switch we got splatoon and arms and now gamefreak is releasing that new game called town not to mention the crappy ones like nintendoland and 1-2 switch they are still new ips tough.

so yeah how many new ips has sony released? horizon zero dawn, knack and last of us i guess?Ps4 has many exclusives but they arent sony ips, its just third partys that only release there, sony themselves does few games, nintendo makes way more games than sony does, and most of the third party exclusives are timed and end up being released on pc or other consoles even.

The only reason for me to turn on my PS4 is to play Blu-Ray discs and very very few titles on the console. Everything that gets released on it either comes out on PC (half the reason I got it was for Final Fantasy XV, and then they released it on PC not long after), comes out on other consoles, or simply is too boring. With Nintendo almost all the games they release that are exclusives are ones I want to buy and put 100 hours into. Their consoles aren't budget gaming PCs in a Sony Branded case, and they seem to be the only ones who innovate or push the envelope for that anymore.

Why you even care if they copy or not, nobody forces you to buy the copy.
More people can enjoy similar experiences.

I would love that sony release a playstation switch, a full ps4 console/portable hybrid with every digital ps4 game compatible so i can finish my games on the go.

I'm primarily a PC player, but PS4 exclusively has Horizon: Zero Dawn, will have Granblue Fantasy Relink, and used to have Disgaea 5 and all good fighting games.
Only Xone/PS4 have KH3 and RDR2. Xone has no good exclusives to me, so PS4 wins by default.
For everything else, there is the Switch. And whatever runs too slow on the Switch, if multiplat, I get on PS4/PC.
Xbox One has no reason to even exist at this point, IMO. The only good exclusive they had in the pipes got canceled (Scalebound)

4k gaming is also a huge waste of resources since the transition from 1080p to 4k is barely noticeable on smaller ( ~32") screens.
If anything, instead of pushing higher resolutions, devs should be pushing that 60fps to 120/144.

It's not really copying it's not like Nintendo invented releasing short video clips of up coming titles.

Fucking Nintendo fanboys with the always Sony copy Nintendo.

Care to look back way before Nintendo did its direct as a means for them to save money going to exhibitions being cheap cunts.... remember buying your favourite game magazine and it included either free VHS or DVDs containing promo footage of games..

Remember at the same time Nintendo being cheap not going to exhibitions what do you think the likes of game devs and that did.... show footage of its upcoming titles.

So please refrain from the bs Sony copy Nintendo when fact is everyone already did this before Nintendo direct.
ps move similar to the nintendo wii mechanics

I do find it interesting how Sony is copying Nintendo in some degree. Even their censorship is pretty much taking the shape of Nintendo's approach during its Wii U/3DS years.
But this is good news for sure since most of the time we have to wait till E3 to get inside scoops of games being worked on or releases.

I'm just sitting here waiting for them to reveal the PS5 already, since they've got such a small number of exclusives in the works right now.
Then you’re waiting for the next Xbox since Xbox one launch
But yeah I’m also waiting for the ps5 announcement!

Seems like E3 gets really in trouble slowly. It's sad since I always liked the big event character with having one event the years that's all about games with all the big names. Guess is's much more inexpensive then renting a space at E3 and when choosing a good date the single games can get more attention, but it's a real loose to not have a singular exciting moment (or better said few days) a year everyone in gaming gets hyped for something/various things. It was something that holded the gaming community toghter since it had something for everyone which of course dosn't has to be true for this smaller announcement trailer things Nintendo Directs are...

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.

In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol
