PS1/2 PS1 question

This can be done with Popstarter. You will find the package and manuals quite easily. The compatibility is limited, but not bad. Definitely worth a try. In contrast to PS2 games, loading from USB is fine for PS1 games (the PS1 drive has only 2x speed, 300kb/s).
If I remember correctly you need need an additional file named "POPS_IOX.PAK"

As far a I know Popstarter works with internal HDD, USB drives and network (smb share) - though I only tried USB. It worked so I stopped experimenting.
Edit: did some reading.
Here is the documentation.
For loading from USB or smb share you need:
POPS_IOX.PAK
For loading from internal HDD you need two other files:
IOPRP252.IMG
POPS.ELF
Non of these files may be provided/linked on GBAtemp

Or, I also heard that if you use flash memory, it can act as more "RAM" at least windows tell me when I stick a flash drive into it. -
