Hey Everyone, Happy Holidays! :toot:
I just recently purchased a New Nintendo 2DS XL and although I have a DSTWO Plus Flashcart that I am currently using on it, I am wondering if following the 3DS.Guide and Homebrewing is even worth doing since I own a Flashcart. What are your suggestions?

Also, regarding emulators to use on my 2DS XL RetroArch is pretty much still the way to go across consoles when it comes to emulators or has this changed?

Thanks I would really appreciate everyone input on what I should do at this point to enjoy my 2DS XL to its full capacity!

Definitely worth it, you can't play 3DS games on the DSTwo.

@Quantumcat

I want to get the maximum sound quality out of my 3ds.
Will it make sense to do a bluetooth mod and connect the 3ds directly to a high quality bluetooth speaker?
I got bad experience with direct connecting my 3ds with a aux cable(low quality cable) to my speaker, it just sounds blurry not crisp at all.
With my high quality headphone (aux input) it sounds a bit better but far away from what I was expecting.
Now I was asking myself if the quality could be better by connecting a bluetooth transmitter directly to the audio output on the 3ds's circuit board and transmit it to either headphones, my PC or my bluetooth speaker.
(So I did not had to use the headphone jack of my 3ds, were the quality loss can happen)
For me it just is not clear if it would make any hearable difference or if the 3ds sound output is just very poor.
And is it complicated to pair a bluetooth transmitter to a speaker? (Can't imagine how this would work, cause on phones you manually have to select the speaker to connect...)

Somehow related question:
Is there any combination of a bluetooth soft- and hardmod to be able to control it with an ingame menu?
I don't think so, but it would be very nice.

I have been considering doing something related to this as well. Although, I am staying away from having to hardmod or physically customize my console to avoid any damaging. But I have came across bluetooth transmitters and dongles that you can connect to the 3.5 mm jack that sends bluetooth audio to any bluetooth headset. The only struggle I have been having is finding a transmitter mini enough to still play and enjoy comfortably.

Hi all. I purchased a 3DS with stock FW 2.1.0-4E. Shall I upgrade FW via game card update in oder to install CFW or is it better to start installing CFW from FW 2.1.0-4E and later update the firmware. Thanks a lot

Don't update. Follow the guide https://3ds.guide. You can install CFW directly without anything else needed on that firmware (via 2xrsa).

You can always do a CTRTransfer. I don't understand what you mean by switching CFW to use ntrboot. Ntrboot is used to install CFW - if you have CFW already you would have no need for ntrboot?

Anyway before you do anything else you should backup your SD card and test it with H2testw https://3ds.guide/h2testw-(windows)
After Testing my SD Card, I managed to get no errors, but when I initiate everything that 3dsguide has to offer. I'm stuck at the part after I made CTR transfer Ticket and now I can't CTRtransfer to 11.5 new 3ds because I got the error saying "No valid destination"

Hmm maybe try the Lazarus script - only thing is you'll need a working console to get the donor files or find a place to download them.
https://github.com/AnalogMan151/Lazarus3DS
By Donor files... you mean do I need a 2nd N3DS to work or do I just have to find my old Backup Nandbin from Emunand9. The last time I backed up my Nandbin was 2 years ago and I wouldn't know for sure if Emunand9 will be compatible with GM9. Sorry I'm just a bit confused about the requirement part.

Example:
The Following Files:
  1. Prepared donor ctrnand.bin, nand_hdr.bin, twln.bin, twlp.bin files & SHAs for your console (o3DS / n3DS + USA / EUR / JPN + retail / dev).

  2. A clean sector0x96.bin, boot9strap.bin, sighax_hdr.bin & SHA for your type of console (retail / dev).

  3. A copy of twlmbr.bin & SHA.

is it possible for a custom firmware to bypass the ap checks newer releases have? Just out of curiosity, but could a, say sky3ds, still be used?

Will you ever get banned or bricked if you download a .cia, no matter if it’s something like a game or just an app. To narrow it down, something like a gameboy game or a cia for old video game consoles?
