Hacking Who hasn't yet installed arm9loaderhax? Why?

I don't plan on installing A9LH just yet because I'm currently satisfied with my homemenuhax installation, which I only got to setting up earlier this year. Also, I don't like the idea of A9LH being "permanent" and I already have several EmuNANDs on several SD cards. Plus, my Gateway card works well at the moment and I'd just rather not mess with anything.

Oh, so you do not have an EmuNAND at all I suppose, if you never set one up in the first place. What system version are you on?

It's the old 3DSXL and currently on version 11.0.0-33E (think its the newest version). I've been trying all day to put GBA emulators on my R4i 3ds (works on all my DSL, DSi and 3DS and Acekard2i (only works on my DSL). I want to play the old harvest moon friends of mineral towns but I checked the compatibility list in the wiki and friends of mineral town isn't compatible as far as I can tell. More friends of mineral town isn't on the list.

You're on the latest version... Damn :/ Well, there really isn't a way for you to downgrade your console at the moment without resorting to paying someone to hardmod your console and downgrade it (or you can hardmod it yourself but I assume you don't have any soldering experience). If you REALLY want to play those games then you can ask @gamesquest1 to hardmod your console. He does great prices and can install everything that's needed for it.

You have to get Freakyforms Deluxe, Ocarina of Time 3D and a Powersaves dongle, or Cubic Ninja. With a Homebrew-entrypoint, you only have to put the contents of the starter.zip on the root of your SD-card, drag some gba games on there as well, and you are good to play a gba emulator

So you can use cartridges if you sd card dies. Also 3ds without sd card are not useless since most users without hacks don't even notice their SD card

Ocarina of time the actual 3ds game? also what is a power saves dongle? I've only ever used the flash carts so sorry if I'm not too clued up :-)

I would have been able to just play them already on my DSL but I can't find my M3Lite or simple whatever it is called haha. I'm not really in any rush, been trying to read up on all this computer stuff but it's sort of going way over my head.

Yes, the actual game. And a powersaves dongle is something you stick your cartridge in and manipulate your save file (aka cheating). But you can also inject the homebrew launcher that way, which allows you to play gba games with an emulator.

Ah ok I got you. Seen something like that on codejunkies. I remember I was going to buy something off their site but stumbled across this one and found the wiki about r4 and stuff like that. Never use any other site now :-). Thank you for all your help. I don't have those games so maybe i will go out and buy one. Any idea if the M3's are still going on? The wiki is quite outdated and theres no longer a cheat database. Narins cheat database was the best i've ever used

I have the game and waiting on the dongle. Got them quite cheap so thought why not lol. Hope you or someone can help or give me a link for a step by step guide if possible :-)

Freshly brewed 3DSs I've set it up on but my own personal one I haven't bothered to update at all. It's even still running rxTools. I just haven't had a reason to. Especially since I generally only touch it a couple of times a month, anymore. There haven't been any interesting games on it recently.

Guys quick question. I am doing another new3ds over to a9lh, but this one is on 9.5 FW (US) Should I update the 9.5 over to 10.3 before downgrading over to 9.2? Or are the new tools safe enought to not get any errors?

You should be fine downgrading from 9.5

shoot. (downgrading from 9.5 to 9.2) I think the 3ds was used with with an r4 card before, I didnt perform a full system reset before starting, so I have a partial downgrade. (crashed during the downgrade with the nintendo error screen) System says 9.2, I am able to get into HBL, but when I launch plaisysupdater to perform the downgrade again It keeps getting stuck on HAX INIT.. I have tried over 20 times, both via Browserhax and cubic ninja, and still the same.

If I try to re-install ninjhax on CN, If I use the 9.5 QRCODE it does not launch HBL, if I use the 9.2 QRCODE it does, but same as browserhax It gets stuck on HAX INIT in the plaisysupdater.

Any ideas? Is it a Keep Trying, or is there a way to update to 10.3 and then re-downgrade?

Use browserhax to reinstall menuhax.
Use menuhax to boot homebrew launcher and rerun the downgrade it should finish properly this time
(will likely only patch 1 file) and finish successfully.

Also might help if you replace boot.3dsx with PlaiSysUpdater.3dsx (rename PlaiSysUpdater.3dsx to boot.3dsx and put it on root)

That would probably work? If for whatever reason you dont want to install menuhax, but I find menuhax handy to use while getting through the guide anyways.
