Can confirm what David Samson posted helps, following that tutorial helped me get browser hax working.

Reset browser data, change theme to another theme then back to the basic one (to make sure menuhax is uninstalled) then i reset the save data for the browser, entered it again to go through the start up process, then exited the browser and kept holding the power button for a hard reset (the power off screen shouldn't appear, just keep holding the power button)

Then inserted the sd card into my pc, and basically i just had to download the 9.2.0-20U payload, rename it to "browserhax_hblauncher_ropbin_payload" and made sure only boot.3dsx and the payload files were the only files on the root of the sd card, along with the 3ds, Nintendo 3DS, and Themes folders.

Turned on the 3ds, turned on the camera, scanned the qr code for browserhax, and it worked.

The key for it to work was to get the 9.2 payload as i mentioned above, even when my system was showing that it was on 9.6, so if you tried to downgrade to 9.2 and it failed halfway through and browserhax doesnt work, try the method above.

Hopefully this helps anyone else who was stuck with the same problem that i had.

My problem is now I can't get SafeSysUpdater working to get it to downgrade :(

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Yep :( Just realized it overwrote the file. This is a test N3DS I have so I'd be willing to do another go from 10.2.0-27U.

I know the old 0.8 used to crash on the homemenu applet (could be menuhax related) which would leave you with a 9.2 firm but locked system settings/browser. I'll give it an upgrade/downgrade again and see if I can get it to crash again.

I'm just used to seeing the "An Error has occurred" and just fixing that. Was a surprise when the screen completely blacked out.

This actually happened to me and I then obtained the same problem Geraki and still trying to downgrade sadly....

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I found that checking the update files fixed the downgrade process.... not sure if this is actually a thing but did work for me and now I am currently on 9.2.0 :D

A buddy of mine just tried to downgrade his 9.5.0E N3DS to 9.2.0E.
He checked the files first which were all good but had to restart his 3DS after that three times to get it to exploit ARM11 successfully.

SSU began to downgrade the first 4 titles and then crashed to a black screen and the 3DS gave this Nintendo Error message on the bottom screen to hold the power button or contact customer support etc.
The console is still working but we don't know what titles were downgraded (I think home menu because he got this theme intro after he restarted).

Anyone knows what might have happend and how to avoid that in a second try?
He will give me his log file tomorrow so I can post it here, but it would be good to know what went wrong here during the downgrade.

Regards,
iCEQB

This is for people who are on the Normal N3DS that ends up using the SafeSysUpdater and it crashes like 30 secs in also just follow what Geraki for a fix then proceed to on into Brony then launch SafeSysUpdater and it should be fine :D I've done this twice.

Thank you for this application! I was never successful trying to run sysupdater with Ninjhax, and when I ran this app to downgrade, it gave me a system error, resulting in a frankenfirmware. I ran it again, and this time it was successful... I think. This is what I got from Downgrade Check:
scr_7_TOP_LEFT.png

Does it mean it was successful?
EDIT: I ran Downgrade Check 2. This is what I got:
Code:
[MISMATCHED VERSIONS]

TitleID Vers: Expected Installed Description

0004009b00010402 04098 05122 N/A
0004001b00010802 00000 01024 N/A
0004013000001b02 02048 03073 GPIO system-module
0004013000001a02 05120 06145 DSP system-module

[EXTRA TITLES]

TitleID Vers. Description

0004003000009e02 01031 amiibo Settings

[MISSING TITLES]

TitleID Vers. Description

FINAL EDIT: As I saw from this thread comment, all I had to do was uninstall the mismatched titles and replace them with the right ones from the O3DS pack, as well as delete the extra title (I used FBI for that). Now I have a perfect 9.2 firmware! :D

This the log he got, as you can see the last title (home menu) crashed the entire thing. It got installed tho, because as I said the console starts and he got this theme selection intro upon reboot.

Before we try anything funny next, I want to install menuhax on this 3DS next so he doesn't have WLAN enabled during the update process, because he is now also getting an update nag (which might have caused this trouble?).

Another thing I want to do is to update it to 10.3 first because I read more success rates by using this FW.
How would I got about it? What version of sysUpdater do I use to upgrade 9.5 to 10.3 from HBL?

EDIT: I just noticed, the update integrity check is missing a lot of titles before the update begins, is that correct??

just a trick I learned from the various 3ds units i've DG'ed
ensure that your memorycard has no errors, *scan it with scandisk

Happened like 3-4 times when I have a bad memory card w/c I did not eject properly and had errors on the Filesystem, I ran scan disk, it fixed it and pasted the files again.

Thanks

Hello Guys!
My friend in i bought us 2 n3dsxl and now we are stuck. i have 2 querstions:

first: my friend is/was on firmware 9.6 and followed a tutorial to downgrade, all was fine until he was finally in safesysupdater and the downgrade process failed after the first 4-5 entries.
After a Reboot without SD Card everything seemed to run normal but now he can´t launch the menuhax site anymore. We formated the SD card and the system and started from scratch but nothing helped - still no browserhax. is he fucked? what can we do?

second: i am currently on 9.0 and wanted to update to 9.2 that i am on the same firmware as everybody else - dont know why but i want to.
is the update process the same as the tutorials for downgrading?

Thanks guys, you are the only help.

Hopefully this helps anyone else who was stuck with the same problem that i had.

big thx
worked for me :)

Exact same thing happened to me. Can't access the browserhax entry point but will try what Geraki said and report back on results.

I'm not sure why my downgrade failed. I have a New 3DS XL with 10.3.0.28U firmware.

Below are the steps I did.
-Downloaded 9.2.0-20U(Full)_n3DS.zip
-Confirm MD5 checksum and verify it was not corrupted.
-Extract to the updates folder on the SD card.
-Used OOT hax to boot homebrew launcher
-Ran safeSysUpdater 0.9.
-In safesysupdater, Press A to confirm files are correct and not corrupted.
-Launch Safesysupdater again and press Y to downgrade. Everything was GOOD and DONE status. At the end, it says it will reboot in 10secs, manually power off if it doesn't.
-After 1 minute I press the power button to shutdown and reboot and now I'm stuck with a An error has occurred, hold down the power button to turn off the power corrupted firmware message.
-I'm currently trying to do a recovery with the A+R+L+UP (D-Pad). EDIT: Recovery fixed the brick but now I'm on 10.6 which is better than having a fully bricked system.

This is my 4th system that I'm downgrading. 2 Success, 1 partial downgrade/brick(wasn't using SafeSysupdater) and 1 failure(current one I'm writing this post about). I have 2 more systems to downgrade, a Pokemon 10.2 and a Fire Emblem 10.3. Was I doing anything wrong? any input would be nice before I try to downgrade the other 2 systems.

Just for context this was my situation:
I was on N3dsXL v9.6.0.24
I upgraded using Safesysupdater the first time, it went through and gave me power off error after the 5th cia. It was a partial downgrade.
After this happened I rebooted but I was unable to access any entry points I was able to before which was oot3dhax, browserhax or menuhax

So I followed geraki except I did the following.
After I inserted the micro sd card into my computer I made sure I had the 9.2 payload from smeas website(enter 9.2.0.24(U) in my case, and download the ropbin and rename it to browserhax_hblauncher_ropbin_payload and place in root of microsd) as well as a fresh boot.3dsx and the 3ds folder, themes folder as well and also the 9.2.0.20U N3ds update files.
When I went to the browser I manually went to "https://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php" and scrolled to the bottom and clicked on browserhax_fright, this was able to get me to the homebrew menu.
After I tried downgrading with safesysupdater it would get stuck on #5 or #7 clean memory.
I rebooted and everytime I went to the website manually and clicked on browserhax_fright to get me into the homebrew menu but now I used the FTBrony trick of going in and quickly exiting it by pressing b then going into safesysupdater.
After the 4th try it went through successfully and downgraded! Hope this helps anyone!

HEY!
Geraki´s post did the thing! We are in the HBL again! thank you so much!
Downgrade worked too!

Edit:
I am still on 9.0. And i want to upgrade to 9.2 that i am on the same version as everybody else if there are any changes in the future of CFWs.
The progress is the same as to downgrade? and are there any risks? not like that with my friends 3ds that we fixed. i mean serious like a hard brick or that i just can go to recovery and install the newest FW?

No point to update. 9.0 and 9.2 are practically the same. I highly doubt there'll be a 9.2 exclusive hack.

Another failed downgrade. I must be doing something wrong. I'm only having problems with downgrading 10.3 firmware on New 3DS XL models.I have two more systems I can perform the downgrade on but I would really like feedback before I try again.

Below are the steps I did.
-Downloaded 9.2.0-20U(Full)_n3DS.zip from that iso site. Confirm MD5 checksum.
-Format SD Card.
-Extract to the updates folder along with homebrew starters pack.
-Used OOT game to boot homebrew launcher
-Ran safeSysUpdater 0.9, Press A to confirm files are correct and not corrupted.
-Launch Safesysupdater again and press Y to downgrade. Everything was GOOD for integrity and DONE status for downgrade. At the end, it says trying to reboot in 10 secs. This time I left it running for 10mins before forcing a power off.
-Power back on and I get the brick "An error has occurred, please power off..." message. Need to use recovery method and force update it to 10.6.

Any reason why you didnt use menuhax? Keep seeing it has the highest success rate for downgrade.
