Well I can see doors already from other user made levels so that must mean I have it the latest.. Assuming that's correct latest us Mario maker version should be 1.31.. Sorry for your loss.
What won't happen until kexploit is patched? I understand kexploit for 5.5 won't be released, but there's no reason to not release the userland exploit for 5.4+5.5 now that is has been patched.

There is some random timeframe in which you can play online even without the latest system menu version, but you still need the latest game update.

You do realize, with this hack, you will be able to use online, probably shortly...? Emunand, or spoofing...?
This is weird but, I'm still on 5.50 and can play online fine. I exited out of Splatoon and my Wii U went straight to an update screen without my approval, however it ran into some error and it stopped downloading it. It then proceeded to reboot and I continue to be on 5.50 and playing online fine even after that happened. Super Mario Maker didn't nag me either.
