I was on a 10.3E N3DS. I downgraded to 9.2E with TusHX's SysUpdater. I couldn't properly install rxTools, so somebody suggested I updated to 10.3 again and used steveice1's SysUpdater. I did so, but the updater wasn't working, so I went back to 9.2E using TusHX's downgrader. I now have finally been able to install rxTools and my emuNAND is working as intended. I still have to update it to 9.5E, but at this point that's pretty trivial, and if something goes wrong... well, it's just the emunand.

BRB, gotta buy me some lottery tickets!

Another question for tho who have been able to downgrade the N3ds AND install Emunand

Is formating the SD card at any point 100% necessary? I kinda don't wanna lose my save games since most of them are Eshop bought

How I did it:

1) Backup SD Card
2) Format emuNAND via Gateway Menu
3) Load emuNAND (before putting the stuff from your SD Card back on) and format it via System Settings
4) Copy SD backup back onto the card

The result is me having the NANDs separated whilst keeping all my games from 10.3 on sysNAND. Note if some of your 10.3 games need a firmware higher than 9.2, you can format sysNAND instead, and have emuNAND contain all your legit content with saves.

Hope that helps you some <3

Let's be honest most bricks are coming from user error.
It's not hard to downgrade, if you can't read a guide and learn to check MD5 then you should not downgrade to start with.
I've done 2 N3ds xl downgrade now with zero issues.

Also for people who are worried about downgrading or can't risk the loss of 200 dollars then just wait for a more stable build.

Yeah saying you'd have to be *really lucky* to get it to work is dumb. Success simply means you can follow directions- which are readily available.

The only real luck comes from getting sysUpdater to load in the first place :')

Successful Downgrade= New 3DS XL, 9.6.0-24U --> 9.2.0-20U, ninjhax 2.5 beta, latest sysupdater (booted on 2nd try), installed about 12 .CIAs then “Error Message: Error Has Occurred. Hold down the Power Button to turn the power off.”, waited about a minute, then held power to turn off then on again

Downgraded my new 3ds xl and new 3ds, 10 times on both from 10.3 to 9.2 without any issue. What's the problem here? I'm so lucky?

It's mainly just lots of people claiming it bricks, When most of the reported brick have been User error. Like using wrong Cia (check MD5 to be certain you have the right one.), Force reboot on "Getting Cia information" these are the two most common I'm seeing.

Been more thne 10 seconds and it'S not rebooting byt itself

The problem here is that, the NATIVE_FIRM is installed after all. It's likely you might have a bad day.

i've done four n3ds downgrades so far and they were all successful... my capture card n3ds was the one that seemed problematic but eventually succeeded after like 60 tries

i still think user error is the primary cause for failures/hardbricks...

Can you detail your entry point, 9.2 arxhive name, version of sysupdater, etc?

menuhax to HBL to sysUpdater 0.42b (stevie's version)

i formatted my sd cards before beginning... i also had my backplate removed so i could pull the battery if it froze instead of holding down the power button because it was quicker... one thing i did notice was the amount of time it took for me to run sysupdater would affect how far it would get before freezing... so what i did was remove a bunch of homebrew apps i had to reduce the scrolling to sysupdater and it worked out... another way i could think of getting it to work is directly booting sysupdater with menuhax... but from the previous success entry points makes me think this doesnt allow enough time for stuff to load up for the app to work

every time it downgraded i had to force reboot and remove my sd card...ive installed cfw on all of them but... i havent tried updating a n3ds to 10.3 and downgrading again since then though lol..

Question about you 9.5 emurand folks. I have a New Nintendo 3Ds Xl with 3 games on it. In a couple of days I have a microsd 32gb card coming in, which I will be using to hack the 3Ds. Couple questions.

1. Knowing that N3DS models only go up to 9.5 on emurand, are legitimate eshop games no longer download able?

2. I'm a monster Hunter addict and would like to retain my save file / online multiplayer functionality. I heard that if find the latest unsigned CIAs it is feasible to play online?

3. On the topic of save files, do I just manually drag my microsd card files onto a backup folder on my desktop? Or is there some homebrew app that specifically manages this? What worries me is how some files might be encrypted and undetected by Windows.
