Hello once again thread!

I have returned to this paradise for yet another NOOB Question lol.
(please refer to my signature for my current setup)

Regarding the latest and more recent capabilities that are currently being discovered with the 3DS, (Which I am blown away by the dedication and abilities that the developers of this scene have uncovered and made available for everyone. I would like to say thank-you! for being awesome lol) I am a bit confused, more specifically regarding downgrading so I may be able to run CFW and boot .cia files and so forth. (I am still unsure of what the gist of it is, but I would like to run DSi Ware such as Four Swords if there is a dump that exists and DS Roms. Aside from everything I am currently doing like using Homebrew if it's still possible.)

So, I am yet to actually downgrade because I wanted to do a bit more research on the process before I actually took action..
I did some browsing and came across the Complete Custom Firmware Guide by @dark_samus3 which I got up to the "n3ds users" part where it instructs to install BrowserHax. I have already Home-brewed my 3DS through Oot3DSHax, do I still need to follow and complete steps 3 & 4? Also, recommendations for CFWs would be great.

I am still new to all this so some insight would be helpful.

I've put those two files into every folder possible (3ds, ninjhax, root, 3ds/rxTools) and none of it is working. Where on the SD card am I supposed to put these? And even in the browser, how come holding down R doesn't boot up the menu for me? Sorry about all these dumb questions, but I'm trying to get this set up.
You have to hold L not R

Inject it via Gateway/something else like that, right? Or would I require a hardmod?

You can use Gateway, but you can also use Emunand9

If that guide is telling you to set up the homebrew launcher, you can skip that step as you already have access to it.

I personally wouldn't skip step 4 (which is completely optional, but makes it more noob friendly), as you can directly boot into Homebrew Launcher.

When I try to inject FBI into Health and Safety, I get two different problems: with the no banner version, it gives me a "You can't boot up this app. Redownload it from the eShop" error, and the banner version doesn't show up on my home screen at all. Any advice?

On the root of your sd card create a folder called "3ds" inside the folder place the rxtools.3dsx and rxtools.smdh files inside the 3ds folder now try launching it with ninjihax

Already tried, didn't work, even when holding L. Do I have to use a different entry point? Right now I'm using Menuhax/Shufflehax. As for my attempts to inject FBI into Health and Safety, well:

make sure you injected it onto emunand and I think you need to unlink your nand

You can try mset which can launch rxtools from the ds profile

Edit: when you see the crash screen you should quickly hold L

Hi i m waiting for a stable N3DSxl downgrade method; but meanwhile there is a lot to catch up as i was using a lazy sky3ds :).
If i understand correctly, emunand is just an untouched sysnand (at higher version or not) on the sd card while so called CFW like rxtools are a stub of code located in launcher.dat . Upon boot a boot exploit/entrypoint (coldboot ??) is launched that execute launcher.dat and this one acts like a bootloader that will patch signature and so on in the emunand firmware / system menu.

Am i right ?

I think you will be able to but to be on the safer side it best to use 1 sd card

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Like I said it is possible but it may cause a lot of problems so its best to be on the safer side and use 1 sd card with high storage

if it is possible, how? and i don't see how it could really be that much of an issue if everything i have is backed up.

I'm not 100% sure of what you got to do sorry
How would I go about unlinking my nand without Gateway? Sorry again if this has a trivial answer.
How to unlink nands:
1. In sysnand, go to System Settings -> Other Settings -> Format System (Do not accept yet)
2. Eject your Sd card (don't worry, it is safe)
3. Accept to Format your 3DS/2DS (let it connect to the internet if it asks, it will not update your system)
4. After it reboots, go through the setup screen and set everything up
5. Once in the home menu, insert back your sd card and let it create some files on your sd card.
6. Your nands are now unlinked, and there are 2 ID folders in your Nintendo 3DS folder on your SD card (one for emunand, another for sysnand)

How it will look on your SD card:
jI44.png

The folder with the smallest size belongs to your sysnand, since you just formatted it. Grab the database zip again and put the title.db and import.db in YourSysnandFolder/RandomNumbersAndLettersFolder/dbs, just like you did in Step 1: Line 1 & 2! Don't forget to go to Data Management in Sysnand to let the 3DS "repair" your software management information!

I think you have to format emunand on each sd card

After formatting your emunand you should restore the folder that you backed up

ehh, that kind of defeats the purpose of using multiple cards, as the emunand takes up too much space to install anything other than CIAs around the 2 gig mark.
Yep thats why its best to have one larger sd card

Guys I'm off to bed in 10 mins
