ohh, could I get URL to where they say that, I'm very interested if they have a good argument for saying this. I personally have a NVIDIA card, but as far as I know AMD cards aren't really any better or worse.
No one from the Dolphin team ever claimed that in such generality. It's just the Internet (tm) spreading FUD.

Please read a book on cryptography.

Only way around this is if system keys leak, although then they can't really be included with the emulator either...

Just here playing 3DSCraft. It's running pretty slow. This might be an old version though. I have a ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics Card with OpenGL 3.3.

Anyone notice how most emulators are targeted for first-party games and just NVIDIA and Intel Graphics Cards? Show some love for AMD too. :P

Radeon 3100 was released in 2008. It's now 7 years old. At that point in time even, it was low end, it's no wonder you're running into some slowdown.

EDIT: also being that you're running low end video from 2008, i've got my doubts that the rest of your setup is up to spec to properly run anything at full speed, too...what's the rest of your specs?

Even then, the 3DS has a key scrambler which makes knowledge about those keys effectively useless until the functionality of that key scrambler has been figured out (which is an equally problematic issue and doesn't get a single bit easier by knowledge of the input keys).

Ahh..wasn't aware of that. Very likely not going to happen at any point in the near future, unless there's somehow a vulnerability that we're not yet aware of with the scrambling portion (though that would still leave it in the legal gray area, which I seriously doubt they want the emulator to be).

The more likely thing which will happen is decrypted ROMs will just circulate.

Get a 3DS.

Sighing. This thread is about emulator. He didn't asked if he wants to buy a 3DS or not. Help him a little bit if you know the answer to his question.

I don't think you will be able to run this rom on Citra just yet. You will have to decrypted it.. FOR NOW, I think.

I answered his question indirectly by deducing that his intent is playing 3DS games. Citra is not intended to be a replacement for an actual 3DS dumping setup, or even a workaround for not having to buy any games. Even if people like to abuse it as such, Citra is not usable for this purpose currently (luckily), nor will it be in the foreseeable future.

So yeah, whether you like to hear it or not, the ultimate answer to the question is "buy a 3DS".

FOR NOW, I think.

In the future too, actually.

At the moment, the way neobrain answered the question as it was asked is actually correct. For the moment, outside of zelda, nothing else really works to the point of actually being playable (some stuff is getting there, however there's numerous missing textures, hard crashing, etc.) Right now, it's still basically a good tool for debugging homebrew, NOT for playing any commercial games from start to end - If we're lucky, we'll see it maybe hit that level in the next like six months to year, but honestly, I wouldn't count on that, as it's a project that they're doing with their own free time, and they're certainly entitled to drop the project tomorrow, if they don't feel like continuing on it anymore.

That is some amazing progress! (saw it on Facebook)

built the same branch and it runs the same as in the video.here are my specs
Intel core i5 4210u @1.7ghz turbo boost to 2.7ghz on single core.
geforce 840m 2gb ddr
6gig ram
win8.1
the emulator seems to use the same amount of resources, no matter how high you system is.

As someone stole my 3ds you are my only hope for playing 3ds roms again someday so the day your emulator is coded well enought to launch roms, and increase the graphics like others emulators(ppsspp, dolphin ect...)
Please make an announce on github
(ps it would be great if it support 3d screens and graphic tablet for the touchscreen)

Still need a 3ds to decrypt the games and make them playable. Though I'm sure decrypted roms will turn up online sooner or later.

I'm sure they're probably already out there somewhere, to be honest. At the moment (and likely for the foreseeable future), the emulator's not particularly well suited to actually PLAY most commercial games, however as this changes, I'm quite certain that decrypted roms will start popping up in "the usual places"

Maybe in a far future citra will even be able to decrypt rom itself
Don't count on it. Just expect decrypted roms to be the norm in the (illegal) places you'd find them. Personally I buy all my games but never bother ripping them.

The devs' priorities seem to be functionality and accuracy over playability atm as well. Playability can come later anyway, it's less morally conflicting emulating dated hardware I guess.
