Honestly, it's just that real life got in the way, nothing more, nothing less. But like Densetsu and I keep saying, we're not just going to randomly abandon the patch after all this time.

I know the Ninja is against any sort of compensation, but if anyone really wants to pitch in, they could book us all a few hours in that hyperbolic time chamber from DBZ. Of course I would spend most of it playing mahjong with my man Krillin.

sorry about that, i just thought after all these years someone already made a patch, they started it right? then y not finish it?
oh and do you guys have psp games on your pc, i would really appreciate it if someone could help me out
again thanks for the replies.....
(thorn off my side) lol

Don't hijack other people's topic. As for your question about why the patch is not out yet, I suggest you start reading from the last page of this topic.

Not at all, all you do is extract all the text

translate it all

then just push the button that puts all the text back in the game translated

It only takes a couple of weeks man.

:wtf:

I sure hope you are joking. If not, then you can try translating this game from scratch.

See the thing people don't realize is that any game (especially an RPG) takes a lengthy time to get to the state where it's polished. You have to go through the arduous tasks of dumping the script, getting someone to translate it, probably double check the translations, edit the script, and hack the game to display the new text. Each step, maybe asside from dumping the script depending on how the game was made, takes a really long time. 2+ years is around the time I'd guess to be able to make a really polished translation. And the few groups that manage to finish their projects, make some amazing quality work.
Unless you're Nagato.

Nagato can do anything. Even get Nanashi no Game translated within a few months after it has baffled translators for years, or get Sigma Harmonics to actually support English text with a horizontal dialogue box.

But anyways, as always, keep up the good work members of the team.

No, there's no translation yet. Plus you should have put this question in another thread. Your senses were correct (it sounded like you had a feeling not to ask here) but your mind didn't listen. Thread jacking is bad news.

As one of the translators for Nanashi no Game stated before, that game was super short script-wise. Sigma Harmonics isn't even translated yet so I don't really see what that has to do with quick translating. Nagato's hacking skills are superb, but I believe Goveynetcom was mainly referring to the translating and editing taking a long time.

The problem right now is editing. Editing isn't exactly speedy since the editors have to know Japanese and Densetsu prefers to tackle 90% of the editing by himself. With one person editing everything and that one person just happens to be in med school, it's bound to be a bit slow.

Now can everyone get back on-topic? I'd hate to see a bunch of "post deleted" from all the off-topic posts.

Thanks :)

Especially because it's not the hacking part who takes the longest time, but the translating phase.

And Sylar1, if you have no life, then I have tons of stuff to translate if you want to.
and please read this
especially point 2.

No, I was saying that Nagato worked gaming miracles......

I'm just going to go ahead and close this for now.
No point getting people's hopes up each time it's randomly bumped.
Not like the past several posts have been useful in any way either.

When the team has something new to report then...well, Densetsu's a mod he'll be able to post regardless of closed status, ahaha.

Apologies in advance, I didn't want to have to make a new topic for this but I haven't received any replies to my messages for weeks now and wasn't sure what to do or who to contact from here.

Okay, I have the tools and old data from the most recent translation effort and I already put it all into the game as well as filling in the blanks to have text for every part of the game. (The original data has most of the text in varying states of completeness but it did have *something* in most cases). Text and graphics have all been worked into the game. It has been tested and is fully playable from beginning to end of the main story (legitimately and with a save that uses hacked/maxed out levels and 99 of every item) as well as the bonus and unlocked content.

Additionally, I can include all the sealed slate "charts" to unlock the hidden missions. That information was on Squeenix' home page and new codes were released for a while until they decided to pull all that info. from their site. I did manage to save all of that information, however and you can "relive" the experience of unlocking the new content...though in retrospect maybe if I can find a way to do so that could be unlocked by default now or after some key point in the story like finishing the main story campaign.

Anyway, yes, I legitimately own the game...I seem to be one of the 5 people that bought it :/

Currently I am trying to polish up the translation. Here is the state of that (noting that everything is currently in the game and playable), many of these already fixed or at least partially fixed:

* Items and Abilities are mostly good. Some length issues
* Menu options are largely fine. Some small length issues
* Main story is in place. There were some consistency issues and typos throughout (minor) as well as broken tags that messed up the spacing and lines per page, etc.
* Chapter 6 of the Main Story was the roughest around the edge and needed a bit of polishing in particular
* The tutorial worked but needed to be rewritten to fit properly on the screen in many cases
* The mission/Behemoth details and descriptions were probably the roughest ones around the edges. Those in particular needed rewrites in many spots and I'm still not totally happy with those yet.
* The ranks are mostly fine content-wise though there are tag and length issues in some cases that needed some minor tweaks
* Some very odd display glitches (minor, always with the text lines at either the top when you get an item or at the very bottom to display ability descriptions, etc.) and lingering pixels. Not positive on why it is happening. I suspect an issue with the single byte "!" used but I'll have to take a closer look into it.

Also, minor, but Desmume goes completely insane at some points in the story part of the game if you try to use the turbo feature in particular but sometimes without. In particular when there is any flashback sequence and crazy animation and parallax scrolling going on while people are talking. It might be my PC or something but it is worth noting. I have had no problems on real hardware, however.

To show I'm serious, here is a video of it in action from a couple weeks ago. A fair bit has changed since then but this should give you the gist of it.

What I would also like is a list of everyone that worked on this. I know some of them already having had contact with them before (Densetsu, Phoenix Goddess, DS1, Tricky Upgrade) though I did recall someone in the site chatroom mentioning he helped with testing(?) a long time ago? Forgive me, I'm not fully aware of all the details during the early stages of this project. I'm just trying to get this finished.
