Awesome, Thanks. I had gotten to the point of realizing / deciding that the DSTWO is the way to go, Nice to have that emulator plugin list though.

Would this thread apply to what I'm attempting to do? If not do you suggest another resource for a "How to" kind of thing? I've always rooted my androids and I soft-modded my wii but I'm 100% new to DS modding!

Also in looking at buying a DStwo card, Does my system version matter?

The DSTwo should come with the latest firmware, which works on 7.1.0, however if it doesn't you'll need to use a regular DS to upgrade the firmware.

The Supercard team is usually 2 or 3 days behind Nintendo as far as getting the firmware updated to work when Nintendo blocks it.

The game will have an update on it, and you can't get past the "update required" screen.

Just to doublecheck, so it won't update it then? And not like linger on the 3ds after i turn it off (just making sure not to accidentally update the 3ds)

No, you have to agree to update. Just having a cartridge in won't make it update. But connecting to the internet causes it to automatically download the update and then harass you about it periodically.

It was my understanding that some games were made with updated SDK versions that don't work with older firmwares, so yes EmuNAND does increase compatability.
That would be weird because I tested the most recent playable games and none of them need emunand other than online features (in or outside of the game).

Also,

Emunand is irrelevant as long as roms are concerned, it only enables online play if you have legit games, and allows you to buy e-shop content. At least that's how it is currently.

Hi guys, I have a quick question.
Let's say I buy a used 3DS XL with 4.1-4.5 firmware.
Can I use the formatting option in the settings to erase everything and start with a clean device? Or is it risky (will it update the firmware version?)?
Thanks.

General question. Should I be able to load the same Emunand with 2.0b1 and 2.0b2 launchers? I formatted and updated the Emunand with the 2.0b1 launcher, and when I try to load it with 2.0b2, it fails and I get kicked back to the system NAND.

Is this normal? Do I need to format and update it again with the 2.0b2 launcher?

Right now I have a 3DS with the latest firmware. I recently got my hands on a 3DS XL with firmware 4.4.0 so I am planning on picking up a Gateway. Is there a way to transfer all my stuff (eShop games, StreetPass saves, etc) to my new 3DS XL without worrying about upgrading to the latest version of the 3DS firmware?

Haven't gotten my GW in the mail yet but from what I know, the save is stored on the 3DS sd card. The save file gets loaded when a game is loaded and gets updated on the card when you do the Home > Close Software like you said.

Just make sure you do this so your saves are stored correctly

recently r4i gold deluxe card bricked a 3ds normal console, now repaired by nintendo as console was under warranty and they further increase warranty for another 12 months,
console has been updated to 7.1 firmware by nintendo, i think they probably replaced the board or may be its memory.
before bricking the console had 4.5 firmware and i made a nand backup, so can i be able to restore it back to 4.5 or is it useless as the console parts replaced by nintendo.
if yes then is there an easy way to restore nand back to a working 3ds or the same typical soldering method.

Yes, you should do some reading on it first. I posted in a thread recently with step-by-step instructions on how to do this, minus the actual transfer.

Probably not, as the NAND is tied to the motherboard. If they replaced the motherboard, your backup is useless. Sorry.

Well I guess I lucked out. My GW was delivered today and i've put an hour or so into Bravely Default :D The music is so good!

Ended up putting 2.0b1 on and will hold off on setting up emuNAND until 2.0 final is release unless someone can provide a reason for me to set that up now.
