PLEASE IGNORE PAGINATION FAILED
Hey guys, I have read that I can update 3DS via Gateway card on 1.0 GW version. Is it true?
Yes you can since 1.0 firmware doesn't ahve firmware spoofing therefore you can just copy a rom with the required updated firmware and go through the steps.

Hello everyone! I've just received my GW today, and I wanted to ask a few questions before installing it just to be safe.

1- First of all, I'd like to know how to downgrade from 2.0b2 to 2.0b1.. Should I simply replace the "launcher.dat" file? Or is downgrading a complicated procedure?? I'd like to install 2.0b2 first, in order to download stuff from the e-shop.. I have a Mario 3D land code which I'd like to use before it expires, though I'd like to downgrade immediately in order to avoid bricking.. which brings me to my 2nd question..

2- Will the games I download from e-shop on 2.0b2 show up later if I use 2.0b1? What about the real Nand.. will they show up on it? Mario 3D land at least??

3- As of today.. is it safe to perform online updating on emunand without the risk of updating the sysnand? Recently nintendo mentioned in their newsletter that there's a new update, and they're offering a free game for those who perform the update. Will this new update by any means affect the sysnand?

4- Can anyone recommend a safe web-site from which I can download 2.0b1 files??

If anyone thinks I'm doing something too risky by using 2.0b2, even if it's for a short while... PLEASE TELL ME! Your opinion matters! I'm not sure exactly how many people out there are still using 2.0b2.. And generally.. is bricking random? Or are there specific conditions? (Even if it's a clone)

Thanks a lot in advance..

1. Downgrading is simply a matter of replacing the Launcher.dat. No worries there.

2. They will show up on 2.0b1 emuNAND. They will sort of show up on realNAND (blank top screen), but I don't think they're playable.

3. It is safe as long as you follow the instructions properly. Make absolutely sure it says GW3D in the version number before updating.

4. Get the files from Gateway's website. Use the 2.0b2 link but change the 2 to 1. We cannot link to it from here.

There is always a risk in using 2.0b2. However, the risk is generally low. I used mine to download Zelda: Four Swords (even though it is unplayable on emuNAND) and my 3DS is fine. After you do whatever you want to do with the eShop (getting demos, buying Ace Attorney, etc), it's safer to downgrade to 2.0b1 for the time being.

Make sure you know the various bugs and problems with 2.0b1. Other than that, it should be safe to play games and all that with it. You can play your demos/downloaded eShop games by using Gateway Classic mode.

Happy gaming! :)

Just got a 3DS XL from the Kmart $35 deal and looks like it passes the serial number and copyright date test. Will open later today and double check 4.5 or lower firmware.

Some newbie questions that I want to double check on after reading the FAQ:
Looks like Animal Crossing and Pokemon are the only titles not working so far but compatability is in the pipeline. I'm assuming this will be a cat and mouse game for future games between Gateway and Nintendo. If I wanted to play the retail versions of these games or future games will I be able to on my 3DS? How about retail versions of online games like Mario Kart 7 online?

I guess that's really it. Will probably be picking up a Gateway and a microSD card. What's a decent size to get for multiple games in future loaders?

Use EmuNAND. Retail cards can go online.
Get a 16-32 GB.

I am thinking of getting a 3dslink cause i dun agree with gw's brick policy, i know i can use gw emunand using gw's launcher, but if using 2.0b2, you think it's as safe as using gw hardware, or that the brick code can detect that the exploit was performed by a clone?

It should be safe.
Enjoy your old features though.

Clones are exactly same as gateway so if you get that there is a risk to it. With gateway there is a safe version 2.0b1 use that, if you think clones removed the brick code then you are wrong. Here is what they did: take gateway 1.2, change it to work on 3dslink/r4i, call it 3.3 etc so you are getting less functional support

I don't think clones removed the brick code, but they didn't put it there in the 1st place too, although it's wrong for them to copy gw's work, it all comes down to piracy and for all purposes gw and clones are basically stealing from nintendo, it's wrong for me to purchase either of them, so in that perspective if everything is wrong and me not approving what gw did, i rather go with the cheapest solution. GW will never get my money tks to that crazy brick stunt.

There's a say in my country, translated it goes like this: A thief that steals from a thief has a 1000 years pardon. lol it can almost be applied on my decision for not getting gw :P MT-card sounds like a future alternative tho ^^

You could also use their 3.0, which is the same as Gateway's 2.0B1. I'm at least happy that they put the fake 1.2 "update" up to stop the bricks.

Of course they didn't remove it, they took old Gateway updates and released them as new ones.

Using 2.0b1 and playing Pokemon X in classic mode, is there a way to download the Pokemon 1.2 patch? I have the latest firmware in the Emunand and am unable to load the eShop.

Could I patch the game on another system with my SD card?

Thanks

The only way to get the update is by using 2.0B2 and risking a brick, which I don't recommend.

Nah, each system encrypts SD data with a console-specific code.
