you can press the button 6 times, 5 of them being brightness settings, the 6th turns off the backlight but not the LCD. i find that 5 (the brightest) and 4 have about the same level of brightness, but 3, 2, and 1 definitely have different levels. i also hear the high pitched sound when the volume is very low, this was not something i heard during the review. i only hear it on levels 4-1. on 5 and 0 i do not hear it at all. i mostly play with the volume turned up or with ear buds, so i don't notice the high pitch sound while gaming. i wonder if anyone around me does?

are you able to game and use the firmware menu while its plugged in and charging? i can not, as i pointed out in the review.

Oups, my bad, I corrected my post.
Yes, I can use the revo without issue when plugged on the wall: game, menu, mp3.

Is it just me or does my device's sound never switch off?
As in ,I move the volume slider down, but if I put my ear close to the speaker I can hear the game.

Yeah, and I am re-reading it, something is missing, I am trying to figure out, so I make a cheat file with an emulator or something first?

OK, I used the cheat database and it looks horrible so I made my own .cht files but the K Card doesn't recognice them in the same directory as the rom with the same name, I am trying to put them around, how exactly do I associate them with specific roms?

I am seriously having trouble with the cheats, I want to add some of my own but I can't find a way for the system to find them.

OK, cheats aside, anyone else has experienced some weird sound issues? it not game breaking but some effects in games like Pokemon or Zelda TMC are replaced by generic beeps, also, the games always start upscaled which is a little annoying but can be solved, maybe a firmware update could address those things? (adding an option to always start the games on the native GBA resolution), also, in my case while using the TV Out cable I got no sound on the TV at all.

Can someone explain me how this can be? I tried this games, but the NES games doesn't react to my buttons. Only L+R to open the special menu is working.

are you playing while charging? i have an early model that has some solder issues. if i charge then i can not control things, usually it acts funny like only the R button works. if you are not charging then make sure you have proper roms. there were two releases of these files, one is the original (which works on almost nothing) and the other is a pure patch that fixes the files for emulation and hardware. you can find the patches on advanscene's site, just search for the game.

Has there been any word on the grapevine regarding the save bug? I really want to get one of these but I just don't want to get something buggy with no support...

Reminds me that I lost a lot of progress twice in a few games, I wish it also supported other ways to add cheat codes since the official method is not the optimal, I just want to be able to use my personal cheat codes on Pokemon games.

Action Replay Max Duo also works.
ok, got carts that i've tried that have issues:
-Play-yan - hang on start screen.
-Play-yan micro - will stuck on nintendo logo.
-EZ-flash IV mini SD - stuck on "info can't find disk".
-Supercard SD - graph on screen and then will auto load a game.
-Supercard mini SD - graph on screen then hangs.
-retail gb/gbc carts won't boot at all
rest of my carts/flashcarts seems ok.

GBA sized carts that wont fit in the slot:
EZ-flash II PowerStar, EZ-flash III, EZflash V [phat] & FA turbo 128.

Mother3,FF6,Pokemons,Kingdom hearts- tried these games and so far,
their saves are still good.
except Mario pinball land /Super Mario ball - its game save gets randomly deleted.

Obviously, I mean, is only GBA hardware there, the original GBA had GB hardware to make it BC.
As always I have to report sound issues related to the hardware of the K101, after playing a lot more of Pokemon I found out, sound samples in which effects are applied in real time like panning and the like can't be properly reproduced resulting in their basic forms getting played instead, so instead of hearing a "sweep!" when you jump down a slope in Pokemon you hear a "beep" which is exactly the same sound minus the special effect.

I bought this thing and it arrived me last month, in April. I don't know if any of you are having these problems. I think it may be too late to ask for a replacement.

The problems are:

The shoulder buttons are not very comfortable, and if you press in the outern edges, it doesn't do its intended actions.
The D-Pad is a bit crappy, it goes down way too much. It almost feels like it's four buttons, because i can push right in the middle and it's almost inside the housing case. The tilt is not satisfactory. I can make diagonals just by pushing one side.
The screen came with a few dead pixels, but the worst thing, is that when it's not at its full bightness, it makes a very annoying humming sound. Like level 5 brightness, no sound. Level 4, 3, 2 and 1 brightnes, humming.

This later thing is the most annoying of the bunch.

BTW, what are you using to protect the screen? I think I may buy a cell phone screen protector and cut it to fit the screen.
