So there's already the system to pull in release info to a post, and that gave me the idea of requesting a feature to pull in the content of Wiki pages.

This would be very useful for situations where a sticky could be made, but the person who made it might become inactive after a while. Instead of one person having to update the guide and new threads being made when members become inactive, if the first post of a stickie'd thread was pulled in from the Wiki, then if the member leaves the thread could still stay updated, and more people could contribute in a place where it'd be easily visible.

The PSP emulator sticky gave me this idea, riposte edited the first post to link to a wiki page people could edit to update as needed.

But people aren't always that fond of following links for information...

When I made the which flash cart should I get guide it was suggested I marge the chart with the one on the wiki (and I tried, but got too lazy). Stuff like this that may be best used with features not available on forum software natively (like colored tables) would be better pulling from the Wiki.

Now, this would only be used for a few things, I'm not saying every page on the Wiki needs a corresponding sticky, but some stickies and guides could be greatly enhanced by this. For example a guide in the acekard section could have a post in it that pulls in the acekard 2i updating guide.

It'd possibly encourage people to contribute more too, and raise more general awareness of the wiki.

i'm thinking about this the way urza is. just move those stickie threads which are no longer updated to the wiki and then ask a mod to unstick it and then stick the new project description and a link to the wiki.

i've already done this with 2 parts of tk_saturn's ak2i setup guide.

i went so far as to add the include/noinclude tags. if anyone moves the rest of his guide to the wiki then they can transclude these two articles with little to no effort.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
