If file logging is active then you can't even start to play.
The game crashes as soon as you select the profile.
Is this what you want to know?
@davebaol
To make the logging work for the LW games isn't it possible to delay the start of the logger with an easy timefunction or some sort of triggerfunction (ex button combination)? This way you probably could get past the profile menu and start the game and still use the logger for the freeze issue

Maybe you can implement the logger once more in the latest d2x cIOS for a special version that we can use for this thread.
Even though it doesn't work with every game yet it may stil work with some problematic games.
Who knows maybe someone could contribute to make the logger even better

Castlevania is a weird case. The game shows a black screen, but you can access Home menu.

you mean you can call up the menu? and when you leave the home menu it's black again?

if so you may wanna try the classic trick: open menu, press z+1+a at the same time. This activates interlaced mode which often helps when wiiware games give black screens but the home menu still works.

I'm talking about a real black screen, not an invalid video signal

I don't think that will work.

On USB NAND, the game froze after entering the first zone. I was able to go through it after 3 or 4 tries by doing a hard reset, but later the game froze again after entering a new zone. On SD NAND, I didn't get a single freeze. Maybe I should have played more, but at least I know that the freeze is less frequent than running the game on USB NAND. Even if I delete the save file and try again, I never had a crash after the first zone on SD NAND.

Also...

I've played the game for a good 20 minutes without any issues even when reaching a save point. I've also restarted the game and this is where the problems begin. I don't have a freeze when selecting a profile, but the game goes to a permanent black screen. I can however hear the music and sounds in the background so the game is still running, I guess. Restarting the game over and over again doesn't fix this issue.

Here's what I said 2 or 3 weeks ago if you remember. That's not the case anymore. Resuming the game from an existent save file works correctly now. However, the game may freeze during gameplay.

[Edit] Here's what I just noticed and it could be a useful information. I don't have any issue with a normal 2GB SD card (my testing were done on that one), but I've made it freeze with a 8GB SDHC card.

Looks like at least LW has timing issues.
If the game can't write to the nand fast enough it will freeze.
This explains some SD cards work and others don't. Also USB nand is slower than SD nand and logging will slow down nand writing as well.
Maybe you could add some kind of cache into Nand Emulation?

Maybe, but why is it possible to play it with sneek? The sneek emulator takes AGES to load a new zone in lost winds but the game never freeze.

Yes, you are right. You can play LostWinds with Uneek. I remember crediar had to add some retry code in EHCI for slow USB drives for Uneek to work properly.
See: http://code.google.com/p/sneek/issues/detail?id=54#c12

Maybe this also fixes problems with hot-swap USB devices in the CIOS?

Maybe, maybe not. But retries might be a good idea to increase the stability.

Thanks a lot to work again on triiforce!!
It works great with cIOS d2x v6, perfect!!

MDK 2 (U) (triiforce on sd, nand on usb)

- TriiForce R86, d2x base IOS56 v6 final, 65 GB FAT32 1st partition on a 500Gb DD, normal boot: DOESN'T WORK

- TriiForce R86, d2x base IOS56 v6 final, 65 GB FAT32 1st partition on a 500Gb DD, apploader: DOESN'T WORK
But I think the real problem is from video. I have to test each video patch. (note: it doesn't work with UNEEK+DI; BUT if I previously patch the wad file with "480i patch", it works!!! a little bit strange). I'll test to force 480i with triiforce asap

Do you use isos forwarders made with wad2iso from Tristar? Because it works with triiforce r78 and cIOS38 rev17 but it doesn't work with triiforce r86 and cIOS[56 or38] d2x v6. (it's isos which use the dol of triiforce to load games from emulated nand). (Though, r86 works fine if I use it normally). And I don't understand why..

Thanks for these new betas!!(I have to test ocarina!great for VC games already played years ago...)

I plan to update the argument code with the help of HBC. So you can launch TriiForce from HBC, auto mount SD or USB, with the preferred settings. Of course it will also allow to auto boot a title.

Codes still work for me. Triiforce on SD. Emulated nand on USB. Codes folder on SD.

Now copy the codes to usb, and select Ocarina from NAND.

Loading codes from Nand "worked". Codes on USB. Emulated nand on USB. Triiforce on SD.

Loading codes from USB "failed". Codes on USB. Emulated nand on USB. Triiforce on SD.

WiiPower, do you think to add alternate path for nand to triiforce (like mighty channels).. maybe adding it to arg interface ?

Thank you.
