i haven't got a 3DS yet. I'm waiting for a title that it worths the money...
I'm very disappointed by Nintendo.. The should release at least 2 or more famous titles by now..
I'd rather wait and let them come out with fabulous un-rushed titles. It's better that way.

No offense but, I find the 3DS much easier to control than the PSP.
Chris, you don't have to say "no offense" all the time, there's no need for it.

Second, I think the PSP has the better control due to placement of the buttons, but that's just my opinion.
I just added those two words in case if a pathetic Sony fanboy comes fuming on me.

Anyway, I prefer the 3DS controls as the analog is bigger, has a thumb nest and also slightly more fluid than the PSP ones.

The plus (or rather D) pad however, is in quite a 'bad' position. Not really comfortable pressing those.

Right! So you buy a book by its author and title? Not reading the summary?

No.. I mean everyone waits for titles that are famous like Zelda, mario kart or a pokemon title, that are the titles that make big sells. I don't have the money right now to spend on games that probably i won't like... Also none of my friends have a 3DS. So I can't test the games to see if I like them....

I play my 3DS every day, but then, I purchased Ghost Recon (which is very similar to Fire Emblem and Advanced Wars) and not many people are into this sort of game.

in the spirit of beating its competitors to the punch nintendo released a 3d product that didn't require glasses. frankly i think it was a bold move. with everyone from apple to sony left behind. sure some of them will be able to release more refined products at a later date but nintendo will always be the first to have released, what to me, is fascinating. i think the content will follow. if they waited for the content they may have been beat on other fronts. when i play a game like PES im still amazed that im playing in 3d without glasses. with next weeks release, and some exciting games coming, im glad to have jumped in first, bugs quirks and all. i have a laptop and an iphone but for whatever reason nintendo get handhelds right. my dslite is still fun too.

Unfortunately almost all fanboys say that whatever Nintendo releases isn't innovation but nothing than just cheap gimmicks.

Stereoscopic 3D is new and fresh (and yes I admit, it's a gimmick), but it does add to gameplay; giving games a greater sense of depth. Watch the MGS and RE trailers and try to depict them on the 3DS... how would they look? It would definitely add on

Well yesterday was the first time I could see a real 3DS in a mall. And I should say, it was indeed cool but not as impressive as DS or PSP at first sight.

So, I won't be getting one. I'm more than happy with all the VC N64 on wii + DSi + PSP. The 3D effect was nonetheless awesome for me but it didn't reach me.

I would've bought it if it wasn't for the region-locking. Why they thought that was a good idea after their success with a region-free DS is beyond me.

maybe they will be releasing all games in all regions, hence being able to get much more money if every region will need to buy that region specific title. just a thought though

More likely publishers, distributors and retailers pressured them into it, they're the ones who do the price gouging. But as it is I buy most of my games from different regions, as does a good portion of my family here and abroad. Hopefully the hackers will do them a favor and crack the region-locking so they can have my money.

@OP

Sure. It's partly true. I cannot deny that
But people are drawing conclusions way too fast again. The 3DS has many years ahead of it.
Yeah, the launch sucked major ass, but does that ruin the system forever? Nope. When the "big hitters" start coming (Mario 3DS, Paper Mario 3DS, Kid Icarus and other titles in the making) people will stop complaining.

I also play mine every day, 'though for Samurai Warrior Chronicles mostly. That has plenty of re-playability, especially with new missions sent through SpotPass.

The 3DS will pick up again around Christmas once some of the more anticipated games come out. This summer, Zelda will definitely create a spike, but I doubt it will be for very long, I think Nintendo know this, and are going to announce what is happening with Mario for this year. Let's hope Mario Kart introduces some good innovative multiplayer.

Don't judge a book by its cover. The cover represents the current lineup
3DS reminds me of the Game Gear. Bigger than the DSi, shit battery life... let's hope the other part of the GG philosophy doesn't carry through either (you know, the "No sales, no games" one)

About a month and a half ago the 3DS was £240 brand new and £210 preowned in many shops around here.

Now I can easily snap one up for a mere £120 if I wanted to.

But do I want to? No.

Why? Because it has the most ABYSMAL gaming selection I have ever seen in *MY* past 8 years of video gaming and I feel Nintendo has seriously played the ball a bit wide on this one(good cricket reference there for those watching England right now lol), and I just think Nintendo rushed it out, didnt think too much about a lengthy sales plan, or overestimated their own sales plans and bought out a (currently dwindling) system to us.

There are tons of 3DS units in shops all over Leicester, here, which just dont seem to be shifting. It's £120 PREOWNED for goodness sake. The only reason it's still in the £200 range brand new is probably due to the fact its gotta make a profit to retailers brand new.

I really feel that E3 will be make or break for the 3DS, or it will end up being a better selling version of the PSPGo that could be continuously outsold by it's predecessor the DS(i).

This may be the last generation of dedicated handheld gaming before Nintendo moves into a more general device with only a strong focus on gaming (mobile devices Nintendo-style), but I think there's still room for them to hit one out of the park.

This will not happen. Nintendo and Iwata have made it perfectly clear that Nintendo products will only appear on Nintendo platforms, and they have no desire to enter the mobile market. It's going to be handheld gaming devices or nothing at all from them.

As for the lack of sales, the blame is now on third parties. Ocarina of Time 3D was finished before the 3DS launched, and Nintendo intentionally held back the game to give companies a jump start on getting games out and racking in sales on early adopters. Only Capcom and Tecmo-Koei stood up to the plate, which is a shame because many of these companies had around three months to take advantage of this window, and now they're going to complain about how they can't compete with Nintendo even when Nintendo distributes their games and gives them huge gaps to shoot their games for.

Imagine this scenario:

A mom sues Nintendo for their son being visually impaired because the only place Nintendo warned about the 3D screens is in the manual. Since not that many people read the manuals as much anymore, a judge can lean towards the mom and Nintendo can lose and lead to negative media attention.

And exactly how could Nintendo lose? They have the health channel as you mentioned. Pretty sure on the back of the box (I can't see why not) it says something about reading the manual for safety precautions, it's in the booklet of every game, and it's in the manual. If the judge says Nintendo is guilty, then that Judge should have his license revoked. Again, let me put it in bold capitals, whether you want to believe it or not:

IT'S THE USERS RESPONSIBILITY TO READ THE SAFETY MANUALS

You can't use the excuse "well we're supposed to, but who does these days?" That's not Nintendo's problem. That's the user ignoring his responsibility and neglecting it.

It's like an EULA of a program you installed. They expect you to read it. Nobody does right? But if they put something in there that says "each day you give us permission to browse your computer and claim copyright over your photos, videos, browsing music, browsing history and let us install programs of our choice" and you click accept, then when you find out about it and sue them saying they're taking personal information, it doesn't matter, you agreed to it. You were supposed to read the EULA, therefore YOU lose. In no way shape or form is it their fault that you didn't read the EULA. Their ass is covered.

Dude. In the past 10 years people have been sued for allowing the volume on walkmans go above a certain level of DB, people have been sued for allowing people use trumpets in a marching band.
It's a culture of protecting the idiots to slowly kill ourselves off as a species.

Not going to lie, it's true. Nintendo really did bomb with the launch of the 3DS.

Not even remotely true. Its already sold 3 million units world wide.

And this is just the same drama the press pushed during the launch of the DS. I'm sure I'm not the only person old enough to remember all that bullshit.

Drama gets clicks, 3DS has sold 3 million and already has its first million selling game. Fanboys will be fanboys. The sky is blue. Grass is green. Water is wet. Fire is hot. And if you spent time reading this topic or its source article you got trolled. And that's about it.

Spoilers: The bold text is the only thing that matters in this topic.

Pyon.
The figures Nintendo gave investors is not what many 3DS what sold to consumers, but what many shipped to stores.
