Hi there

I'm having an issue with my new Nintendo 3DS regular size version.

History
I bought a new motherboard and replaced the old one.

The console powers on correctly all menu options work all buttons work except when I press the b button the system shuts off.

Can this be a faulty abxy daughter board. Did anyone ever encounter this issue.

Any help would be appreciated as I really need to get this working.

The system does not have cfw and is stock. I can't send to Nintendo as it from different region. It's Japanese.

This could have been a loose ribbon cable. If one of the cables isn't fully seated correctly issues like this could happen. I suppose in the end you got it replaced but next time you have similar issue like this double check the ribbon cables! ;)

EDIT: Lol just now noticed that first reply necro'd this thread. Surprised the OP came back to reply to it after the thread languished in the pits of page 3 for a year. :P

Sounds like you have a short (possible liquid spill)
Open it up, looking out for any bluish/greenish/yellowish corrosion. If you see any, clean it thoroughly with 99% IPA, Deoxit or other contact cleaner.
I opened it up and didn't see any corrosion, but still cleaned it thoroughly with IPA - that fixed the issue. Thank you very much!

I had an issue with my 2DS XL and a third party battery that was causing a similar issue, when putting pressure on the mainboard with certain buttons it was causing just enough flex to disconnect the battery. I shimmed the battery with some paper and no issues after that.
