wow 5 days late to the party. I came here to see if maybe they released it as a christmas gift, but it was an early one
biggrin.gif

I dont have time to test it out now (which is kind of ironic as i have been wanting eagerly to do this for so long)

but I know it will be great - and I want to thank you guys and apologise for all the bullshit things I've said earlier in this thread.

Thanks so much guys, you are awesome!!!!!!!!

It sounds like you aren't generating the files that RB2 needs (the bin files in drive:/private/wii/data/cRBA). After importing into the PC app you need to:
-File -> Open SD Card, select USB drive's root,
-Right-click your files and Install -> SD Card.

Songs installed to the active 'SD card'/folder will have the RawkSD logo in the Availability column.

If you don't change the active 'SD Card' then the PC app will use the 'rawksd' folder by default. The active 'SD card'/folder is also useful for RiiFS/WiFi streaming, or you can copy the contents of this folder to your USB drive (drive:/private/wii/data/cRBA and drive:/rawk/rb2) if you prefer to organise your content that way.

I did all this and I still have the same problem. This is kinda sucking

I hope everyone had a great Quanzhanumas, and got everything they wanted. Me, I got a messy house from my nieces, and a headache from this thing...
Anyways. I have been trying to get Rawk3 to work with the songs on my 500gb hard drive with a 95 gb FAT32 partion. I do everything right and I can't get them to work. So, I decide to try a 2gb sd card. I load the songs (2 of them) up to the card, start Rawk3, click play, RB2 loads like always, and what do you know the songs are there, and they work great.
I put the SD card back into my computer, and open up the SD card and the Hard drive, and compare the 2.
I find out that when I add songs to the Hard drive it does not have a CONFIG or ID file in the RB2 folder.
So, I try with a 1gb flash drive to see if it will work, and I get the same results as the Hard drive.

Anyone else have this problem?

I guess if I can't figure it out I'll get a 16gb SDHC but I would rather use my hard drive.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you're not selecting USB as the device to use in the RawkSD wii app.
Nope. I select USB. have tried all. SD, USB, and Wifi. The only I can seem to get to work is SD.

Some USB devices straight-up don't work, perhaps due to time-outs or device nuances or whatever. But the wifi should be rock-solid - if you've got RawkSD PC open, the Wii's on the same network as the host computer, and you fire up the app, it should always work.

Paste the contents of your USB HDD, the files must be in the EXACT same locations as on the SD card.

Edit:

Why would you do this, install them to the ROOT directory.

TREAT THE USB HDD THE SAME AS YOU WOULD AN SD CARD.

This is more for general curiosity, and not trying to find a way around it (I am completely incapable of understanding anything about how rawksd makes everything it does possible anyway) but is the app forcing an unpatched ios37 because it requires that to do what it does, or are the devs just trying to support legit DLC purchases?

I have to repeat my earlier question...is anyone else having issues with importing guitar hero 3 tracks?

Using the customs I had earlier caused it to crash. Reripping them caused all but the 'band' tracks to be not available (manually setting the difficulty to anything but 0 once again caused a crash). My last resort - using rawksd2 to set it all up and then copy-pasting everything to the USB drive - failed as well. Too bad.

Then again, I can't really complain. Aside from this issue, everything is as perfect as it could be. I'm finally able to create a track list of all my (other) music games without having to swap either SD cards or DVD's. Yeeey!

It does it for the same reason Riivolution does it (3.0 is based off of Riivolution), because the patches which they apply at run-time only work properly on an unpatched IOS. For that matter, a SPECIFIC REVISION of IOS37. Otherwise, the patches will do weird things and not work.

No, no. I did not mean I put them in that folder. It is the folder that was created for my customs.
I do everything the same for my hdd as I do for my SD.
When I select "Open SD card" I select "N" (Hard Drive) Instead of "I" (SD Card)

EDIT: One more thing. If I am to buy an HCSD card how much room do I need for every supported game out there?
Not saying I have every game, just want to know incase I do get everyone.

Woof. This thing is the BOMB. Helluva improvement over version 2. I really like how Rawk is now its own loader and program. Well done!

I used the Wii app's disk ripper to grab about 80 RB1 tracks and imported them with the PC app to my USB drive. No issues with that whatsoever. Initially when I went to test playing the Wii app, I did get a RB2 disc read error and had to back out to the system menu. It loaded after that, then my USB drive went to sleep and the tracks didn't load in game. Finally all went well the third time loading the RB2 disc with the RB1 tracks showing up and playing in game (I obviously didn't try all of them, but everything appears kosher). What worries me is my USB drive tends to fall asleep quite a bit, although I use the same drive for Config USB Loader and it has no issues when I'm playing a game. Obviously this may become a bit more of a concern when using the drive for RB2 customs since there can be a lot of game playing, menu driving, etc. with plenty of opportunity for the drive to fall asleep.

Question: does it make any sense to run the Rawk Wii app off my USB drive instead of the SD card? Would this help at all with sleeping drives? I do this for my Config USB loader and ScummVM, plus a couple other homebrew apps. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks again for making Rock Band 2 play on the Wii the way it should! I also really like how the loader skips directly to the opening intro. Since it's the only thing they let you skip anyway this is much appreciated!

I have almost all of the supported disc games (all of the GH games and all supported RB games minus one or two RB track packs) and a handful of customs and DLC and my total is just under 20GB. What you will need depends on what you have.

So here is what I have come up with. My 500 gig HD (400 wbfs 100 fat32) Does not show the song on RB2.
I decide for the hell of it to try my 1.5 tb hard drive with a 50 gig Fat32 partition. I put the Rawk3 app on there, load up a couple songs, start homebrew, click on the Rawk3 app, and it says I don't have a hard drive hooked.
Went to bestbuy today and picked up a 16 flash drive for 14 bucks, and it seems to work great.

Anyone else having trouble ripping? I keep trying Lego RB and it seems to abort just before finishing (or sometimes earlier). My wifi is pretty reliable, not sure what else could cause the issue. Ideas?

How big is the storage device you're ripping to?

So do you guys want feedback on the beta4 version here or somewhere else? I've noticed a few things, not that they are bugs necessarily or anything so I'm not sure if this is the proper forum (ahem) for them.

So far I've successfully ripped two RB discs (the original and TP2), plus GH Aerosmith and GH World Tour. Except for one Smashing Pumpkins song from World Tour all the rips went just fine and all previews play. Just about the only thing I've struggled with so far is Rawk lots of time doesn't like to read my RB2 disc. I have no clue as to why this may be, but besides my last post on it giving me a disc read error, I've had a few others come up when running Rawk. The most recent time this happened it failed to read the disc twice in a row, then third time was the charm. Not sure why this would be.

Another oddity I've noticed is that out of all the songs rips I've done, surprisingly the RB ones have a very low volume preview but the GH ones don't. In fact from my play testing so far it seems that whole "GH volume" thing is a thing of the past. It just seems strange that the previews on the RB songs would be so quiet; I don't think the actual songs are, just the previews. Strange is all, really.

Just get rid of WBFS and convert to 100% FAT32. WBFS partitions are useless, and it may be that you are having issues because of the multiple partitions.
