Wow a beginner? You do awfully well with this. I mean, i want to see what i can do for the script. But that takes a lot of work. As what i found out now, but i remember someone on another site put a pic up of SRWW where it was english script, but just one line, when Mihiro stops Kazuma and Duo's fued.
I think it went like this:
Mihiro-Enough of this Brother!
Kazuma-Mihiro! What are you doing here?

I literally was shocked at this when i saw it. Btw, do you know what happened to the Super Robot Wars J translation project? are they putting it on hold, i have the screenshots, and by the looks of it, they might as well release it because im sure they are very close.

That was probably me.

I did a bit of work for it years ago after realizing it (like all the other NDS games) was very much like J. I don't have a dedicated translator though, so nother ever happened beyond a menu translation (which is unreleased and will never be released).

You...
This looks so awesome. It looks comfortable for Atlus to release right off the back. How long do things like this take though? And I see Kazuma doesn't like his father much xD. Oh yeah, i forgot, he was a delinquent of course.

Got a point. Maybe you and Shin could POSSIBLY work together. You guys have awesome hacking talent.
No, KiC's hacking skill is far better, he can build text editor means he can use language programming such C#, C++, etc (he's an advance romhacker). About working together, I don't know about it, my japanese skill is very limited that's why I can only make menu translation, I don't think I can be usefull for KiC.

I see, oh and btw. Just heard recent news from the Translation team for Super Robot Wars Judgment, it seems they made another update and i think are ready for a release. I'll give them hope, so some people hope for a Christmas release on Saturday. Cause im totally going to be focused on Touya. Cause thats my man.

So wait, both SRW W and SRW K have menu translations, the latter which is released. So wish you could get dedicated translators. SRW isn't the same without its stellar plot.

Hello Kic,

Is it possible to automatically extract a full text script of the game, or is it required to do the translation while looking at the screen ? I live in Japan since a few years and am ok in japanese. I already completed SRT W+K and am currently in L, whlie reading all the text. I think I could do 1 chapter every 2 day/3 a week, but with a full text version. Otherwise, playing through the game and going back and forth between the DS screen and my computer to type the text would waste more time.

All the text can of course be extracted from the game, the difficulty just varies a bit. These handheld SRW games have a quite eifficient text compression, which is probably why so few people did it.
If you want to give it a try, then you really absolutely have to know what you are getting into. These games are huge, they take long, and when you translate them, you shouldn't try to rush a schedule. Make sure everything is correct, that's more important than finishing 3 files per week.
I uploaded the first chapter of W as a sample, if you are interested: http://aerie.wingdreams.net/stuff/0001.sjs
Open it with a japanese text editor like jwpce. I included the names there, too. Let me know what you think.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that tomorrow. One more thing: is there a character limit to respect in regards to the number of japanese characters (like in old videogames translations), or will it be possible to extend the number of dialog pages if the english version gets longer than the japanese one (and it will of course) ?

I wonder why everyone is asking that at first. There are no limits. You don't have to try to format it either, just put the entire string on one line unless you specifically want a linebreak somewhere. Also, you can add comments by starting a line with // (just like the names). You could leave the japanese there for references, for example.

Is it me, or im a seeing a possible SRWW script translation coming? If so, thats great news.

I'd be willing to pay for a W Translation, srsly. I hear it's got one of the best stories in all of SRW (Heavily consistent, heavily funny, and with enough GAR to blow up the Sun. Or a fake one anyhow)
