*Changed cIOS202 to 57 instead of 60.
*Added cios.zip for the 1 person who wanted it wink.gif

Firstly great guide, I used to this to update my 4.1 to 4.2 - but can I check what does the changes made on the 10th do differently to the softmod ? I think the verion I downloaded was on the 10th before you updated it. So should I re-do it? Cheers

No they just changed the base of 1 cios. You can download the new cios202 from cios.zip and install it with a wad manager.

Hi!

Tried to softmod my friends wii today, using this guide and we also had several problems with the IOS236 Installer v3

Random freezing behavior in different sections when your about to press 1, press A,load from SD card and *BAM* no response from wiimote. Reset Wii and reboot installer, random code dumps, reset wii ... Once it came to the installing option and started to install but it probably freezed again when it didn't progress for 10 minutes. Reset wii and reboot installer, random code dumps again. Well, you get the picture.

Tried clearing all wireless connections and re-setup one to connection 1 but that didn't work either. So, any suggestions? Try IOS236 Installer v4?

Hacking progress:

4.3E virgin;
1.Indiana pwns exploit
2.Hackmii installer
3.Boot2
4.HBC1.08
5.NAND Backup
6. ...and now waiting for a solution for IOS236 Installer.

try v4, make sure u still have 1 internet connection...

that 1 time it froze during the install, it may have finished successfully, if u move onto the next step and it works then u will be able to confirm that it was successful

Alrite, will try v4 and 1 internet connection. You're talking about the next step, are you meaning something within the ISO236 installer or "Removing Stub IOS's, Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS (The good stuff!)"?

Hi

I used your fantastic guide back on 10 November 2009 !

I've always struggled with dual layer from USB and think it's due to the ios249 version I have, looks like a lots changed (well moved forward)

I have bootmii installed (older wii ;-) ) and have 2 backups (one before softmod, one after) - I never installed prii loader back then it was recommended only if bootmii couldn't be loaded onto boot2

I'm still on 4.2E

What do I need to do to update, I notice it looks like stub ios' are gone,

so do I start with:

Installing a Trucha'd IOS into slot 236. and work all the way through ?

or would I already have that, I wish I'd downloaded a copy of the guide as I used it to refer back to ! doh!

I also like the sound of prii loader in your guide now, sounds like successfully blocking disk and internet udpates would be good, in case any of my family accidentally click yes!

Thanks in advance and I'm really sorry if this is already answered

---

ps I found the list of wads I Installed:

IOS202-v4.wad
IOS222-v4.wad
IOS223-v4.wad
IOS249-v14.wad
IOS250-v65535.wad
IOS70-v6687.wad

I also use wiiflow which I gather may not currently work with v20 of cios ?

by next step, I meant whatever comes after using the IOS236 Installer

You can grab the cios.zip, and install whatever wads you want

Wiiflow should work with v19

yes use MMM to install the cIOS.
yes, the hbc update is required for many apps.

as the guide says...

While in Multi-Mod Manager go up and choose APP Manager.
Now choose 3. Priiloader.

Thanks but can you confirm what difference CIOS202 version makes ? I found the line below which suggest that Cios is used for MPlayer mainly?
- IOS 202 (r5.1, v65535): Custom IOS used for USB 2.0 support. Typically installed for use with MPlayer.

PLUS following using guide (dated 9/6/2010) I installed USB Loader GX with the latest stable release (r883) and although it works on wbfs formated drives - I wanted to move to using an NTFS drive so used WiiBackup Manager to convert a few titles over - but none of them show in USB Loader GX .... Anyone got any ideas? I have tried a few different NTFS drives......

The default path/name of the JAP Smash Stack exploit is as follows:
private\wii\app\RSBJ\st\st_smashstackjp.bin

And here is the path/name of the USA Smash Stack exploit:
private\wii\app\RSBE\st\st_080805_0933.bin

Can someone please tell me if st_smashstackjp.bin needs to be renamed to st_080805_0933.bin (or something else entirely) in order for it to work?

Firstly thanks for your efforts to create an Easy guide to achieve a successful Softmod for the Wii!! Also to all concerned that offer time and patience to Help people solve their issues!!
But, unfortunately I have screwed up trying to Upgrade a previously Softmodded SM4.1E to 4.2E!!!! I was using the up42e.zip and extracted files to 2Gb Sandisk SD Card, I didn't reinstall the Homebrew Channel as I was already on v1.0.8. I also had Wad Manager v1.42 installed as a Channel. I Ran Multi-Mod Manager from the Homebrew Channel. I installed IOS70-64-v6687.wad and System Menu-NUS-v482.wad.

Now this is where I made my first mistake I didn't install the extra 28 wad file in the Other Folder!!!!!
frown.gif
I checked to see if it was showing that it was now running SM4.2E, which it was but obviously minus the 28 wads. Thinking that it was Updated I moved on to the 4.2 Modding Guide, but when it came to installing the 4.2 version of the Bannerbomb it wouldn't load from the SD card, it just wanted to work as if to save game saves. I uninstalled the old Homebrew channel thinking that may be why the newer version wouldn't install, but no go same problem! I realized eventually that I hadn't installed the 28 wads previously so as I still had the Wad Manager Channel still installed I went back and reinstalled the Update IOS70-64-v6687.wad and System Menu-NUS-v482.wad and each 28.wad files from the Folder individually. Unfortunately I still can't install the Bannerbomb (I've tried all versions for 4.2) or get the Homebrew Channel to install. I have also uninstalled the wad channel as well thinking that may have been preventing it to install as well!!!!

I know I have committed the ultimate sin, but PLEASE can someone try and help me out!!!!!!!

TIA, Dave.

Hi everyone, are there any homebrew or exploits that may be able to help me out here!!!!!

Hey, got a minor problem with a 4.3E wii.
I got homebrewchannel on it with indy but once i run the ios236 installer and have to press A to load ios from sd card it does some "patching" it seems then when the next line with "press A" comes it gives me a DSI error/code dump

I've tried to run MMM afterwards and pressed Right on the dpad to see ios files but wont see 236....:/

What to do?

edit: Got it working by using the online method, incase anyoneelse encounters this
