When this guide was about modding 4.2, it used MMM (v13.2?)
Now that MMM 13.4 is out, for using the same 4.2 modding guide, can we use that or do we have to use that old version?

v13.4 of MMM is great, but unless u remove the “no_ios_reload” from its meta.xml, it is a little dangerous to use at the moment without a working wifi connection… as are all no_ios_reload\ahbprot apps that have the ability to install/modify a system menu or system menu IOS. If u launch MMM and go to install either of those things and it freezes in the middle, u can brick if u don’t have bootmii @ boot2. This is why the priiloader v0.5 installer was removed.

If u want to use the latest MMM, I recommend removing the no_ios_reload switch in the meta.xml.

so removing no_ios_reload is all there is to it? same steps same everything?
I mean.. isnt it patching stuff differently now?

I guess my question is, is the MMM section written before 4.3 was out compatible with the latest MMM?

Also, what's the deal with priiloader 0.5?? i dont get why it was removed?

If u are following this guide, u don’t need to use the latest MMM anyways… but yes, the steps would be the same regardless of what version of MMM is being used. Basically, the latest MMM gives u the potentially dangerous option of using no_ios_reload, and it is also capable of performing online installations of latest IOSs and System Menus… the older versions of MMM can still be used to install that stuff offline (using wads) so for the purposes of this guide, the version u use makes no difference.

A layman’s terms explanation of what is wrong with all apps using the “no_ios_reload” argument, including priiloader v0.5, can be found HERE.

Thanks XFlak.
As for the "no_ios_reload", did I understand correctly that its a bug in HBC?
Edit: Also, does that mean daco reverted to 0.4? (thats whats on googlecode) .. but that doesnt support the latest HBC does it?
(yes I'm a bit confused)

i'm not sure if u want to call it a bug in the HBC, but an update to either the HBC or to libogc to compensate for the HBC should be able to fix this. Just wait it out, it wont be long before this whole mess is cleared up... i mean, i would be extremely shocked if its not sorted out 1 month from now. Heck, it could be fixed in a matter of days for all I know!

I hacked my cousins Wii everything works fine. Just when I click on the Internet Channel it tells me to install it from the Wii Store but I have to update for that, what should I do?

Hello

My friend wants me to put the homebrew channel on his 4.3E Wii, problem is my original copy of Lego Indiana Jones is badly scratched and the Wii won't read. Would I be able to swap the DVD drive in my Wii which has a Wiikey v1 installed with his DVD drive to get a backup copy of the game to boot?

Thanks in advance

EDIT And am I allowed to request an IOS236 installer? If I'm not then don't give it to me.

Well I'm pretty confident I'd get it done right. I've managed to replace PSP screens in the past without any trouble. I'll still go with your suggestion, but only because it's easier on me and I wont be keeping my friend waiting for weeks for a god damn triwing screwdriver to ship over.

hey guys, thanks to XFlak's recommendations and this great guide of xzxero's guide(god bless them all)
I could finish the modding of wii 4.3 without a problem. Thanks xflaks for the heads up about the working internet connection(i could have bricked the wii if it werent for your heads up),anyways, when I first set up the connection it asked me to update,i am pretty sure it was already updated to the latest version cuz it was after september 7 that I updated it,and it should have the latest 4.3v2 update,so what is wrong why it asks for another update?is nintendo working late again and loaded their servers up with just another update?

Anyways I just asked because i am curious,i installed priiloader&blocked disc and online updates.(i dont know if i did the right thing ,looking at the announcements about the crashes and very few bricks that occurred bec.of the network error)

One more question:which softwares gets affected by the crash(if network doesnt exist),does usbloadergx, wiiflow, cfgloader etc gets affected by this crash?
I have channel forwarders for them so does that crash affect forwarders too, because i dont open the HBC and i directly load the program from the main menu?
(SO xflak has already answered that in the previous page sorry
I found out that these software doesnt get affected by it)

And I also found out that Wiimc has no_ios_reload in it meta.xml,if I just delete this line am i in the safe zone?will the application still perform?

Thanks guys

It sees you don't have your ios's stubbed anymore.

Any application that is launched with the no ios reload will be affected...

I would assume so.

You can remove that line from wiimc, I believe it is only for dvd support though, so dvd support will most likely not work...

QUOTEDVD support via AHBPROT - requires latest HBC or latest WiiMC channel

Thank you Eric for your thorough explanation of what is going on...

As long as I have a wifi running i will be safe right? If I have a wifi do I need to delete no_ios_reload line from meta files?

and Eric it was right after installing HBC I adjusted the wifi settings and when it could connect it asked me right away if I wanted to update.I hadnt deleted the stub ios by then...They were still present. As the deleting stubs phase is a further step in the guide

You should be safe with a valid internet connection...

idk then, only thing I can think of is you had the old 4.3 update when you updated...
